I've missed participating on the forum. We had had a number of illnesses in my family, then the hard-drive on my computer went and I did not participate in any online forums, until now. As I mentioned earlier, you were not forgotten in my prayers throughout this time.
The warmth and support here are unsurpassed!
Last year, when my father was battling 2 different cancers, knowing that he was in your prayers was comforting not only to him, but to me and to the rest of my family. God worked his healing powers upon Dad, who is now free of both cancers.
Although I have said thank-you in the past, I wanted to say it again, as your prayers have meant so much to us. For me to pray for each of you is small compensation for the comfort and strength that you've all brought to my family.
Mike, I can certainly relate to the feeling of having been hit by a truck--I'm too worn-out today to go detecting and, as a beach-hunter, I relish these days when low tide arrives during school hours. Hopefully, staying home and resting all day today will help me recover enough to get out there tomorrow.
The beauty and serenity of the beach, detector in hand, prayers in my thoughts, is a wonderful combination.
Betty, we're certainly outside the normal realm of typical woman's hobbies. Personally, though, I never cared for most of the more typical women's interests. Even my profession, before my kids were born, was considered a "man's job". Our uniqueness was certainly instilled by God and, perhaps we're around to remind others of the fact that ladies are often capable of doing many "guy things" but most women just aren't interested in doing them. My sons certainly don't go around saying,"Girls can't do that!" because they know better from their mom's example.
Joe, I'm sorry to learn that the chain is only gold-filled. It had some good weight to it and had me fooled, for sure. Solid gold chains certainly are unusual to find and you are definitely not alone in not having found one this season. I frequently talk to those who've been detecting for many, many years and quite a number of them have gone empty-handed, chainwise, this year. Maybe Philo can offer some tips to those of us left gold-chainless this season :?:
