First detector, Fisher F 2, also have a bounty hunter pioneer 505, and a bounty hunter land ranger pro. Did a target separation test between the silver, f2 and LRP. Used a quarter, pull tab and a small piece of foil in an area the size of a baseball. No contest. The vid screens bounced all over on the f2 and lrp pro, even when all 3 were set at zinc. The silver discriminates and separates so well I knew that I was digging coins from amongst pull tabs, stay tabs and foil at an old football field. Never felt that confident with the F2, and especially the LRP. I think all three get pretty close the same depth. So, in trashy areas the silver, for me, is it hands down my choice.

yep sometimes screens are a hindrance :poke:

glad you like it and if you are game stick the 4" coil surprised me they are good fit in easy ground.

I was use to using screens, but within about 20 minutes I did not miss the screen at all. It was fun thumbing the disc. Knob and trying to guess at what the target was. Turning knobs is easier than pushing buttons and scrolling through menus. Also, being able to change between all metal and disc. with the flip of a switch is nice too.

I only really do 2 types of hunting 99% of the time on land and that's disc just above zinc cent and just cutting out nails so no knob turning for me just a lot of digging set and forget and listen and learn and enjoy the surprises along the way

but we all hunt diff and that's why there are adjustments lucky hey.

good luck out there.

With a bit of practice one can become very proficient thumbing the discrimination. I use detectors with screens and without - seldom miss the screen.

Glad you are liking your Tesoro, although i do use some beep and dig machines,i personally would take a decent screened detector anyday, not that they are better detectors its just the fact that they can provide more information.Although i will say that audio is king all the time and far more accurate at depth, this is why a decent set of headphones comes into play as you can then in theory hear those deep feint signals that you could miss as these are usually the best finds. On a trashy roman/saxon site a Tesoro with its superb discrimination is a very hard machine to beat only trouble is they are not the deepest machines going.

the silver is a great machine when you want to clean up that 1st 6" of ground I think its a very overlooked machine
