Thank You Vet's from the Greatest Generation

Today 74 years ago, American and allied troops slammed into the beaches of Normandy heavily fortified by German forces and the Atlantic Wall which will forever be known as D Day. These veterans and this generation of young men and women would become known as the Greatest Generation. Our troops along with the Allied troops did what seemed to be the Impossible. For all that is going on in our country today, this seems to verify this. If not for their efforts and sacrifice 74 years ago we would most likely be speaking German or Japanese as our main language today. God Bless them all and also our men and women serving our country today. God Bless America.

Sorry for being a late poster here,,,,,but I think of our greatest generation every day,,,,,I don't think we could ever show them all the gratitude they deserve,,,,:usaflag:

My last remaining Uncle was a member of that Generation. He passed away yesterday morning. 90 some years old. He was a gentleman.

We've got a famous one living in our town named Woody Williams, he's 93 years old and the last super bowl he

flipped the coin to start the game, they just named a battleship after him last year and just last week they named the VA hospital after him. This guy is a true national hero.

Is the U.S. making another battleship? Used to be named after States.

My Dad was there at Normandy, he was an Engineer at Utah Beach first on the beach to dig up mines.
Here's a great story: after 55 years my Son attended HS with a grandson of one of the Band Of Brothers members. This guy played a big part in taking out some big German Artillery that was shelling Utah Beach. Most likely he saved my Father's life. How cool is that?

That is cool. If you think about it. That is part of the circle of life. If one , or both of those men had not made it , what would have happened to your families.

I visited Northern france a few years ago on my motorbike with my wife.We visited many of the famous sites that were of importance during the invasion.I met both American and British veterans (i'm from Britain) and this was an amazing privilage that i will never forget.
If anybody ever gets the chance to visit Normandy, grab it with both hands as it is a truly humbling experience, particularly the cemetaries which give a sobering insight into the high cost of WW2.
God bless all the soldiers that participated in this terrible war.
