I see a lot of book out today that are no more than the manufactures instruction manual rewritten.

Is this book truly new worthwhile information or just a different view of the instruction manual? Can you learn anything different about the machine from reading the book?

I was getting ready to order it but wanted to check it out a little further.

Thanks for any comments.

Harold

a bit more of a detail answer. But what the heck...I just ordered it and I will see what it is.

I hope it's more than just another rewrite of the instruction manual.

Hi Harold,

The book goes well beyond the info in the manual and Engineering Guide

Sources for writing the book include White's engineering staff, Jimmy "Sierra" Normandi (very influential in defining the MXT's features), and the MXT's design engineer, David Johnson. In addition to these primary sources and my own field experience with the unit, I put the unit through a number of lab tests. Many of the test results are provided in graph form in the book.

The book also includes many optional "Tech Info" sections that provide information of interest for the more technical reader and other information not available anywhere else. (Details on the VDI wheel expansion circuitry, ground-balance cascade effects, undocumented Threshold Silencing Resistance feature in Prospecting Mode, mixed-mode details, GND-to-VDI conversions, mineralization strength measurement techniques, etc.)

Obviously, I

IMHO this book has more than you would ever want to know about the MXT. Absorb half and you will be a MXT guru. Don't anybody tell Jeff I wrote this but he must be really anal to have gone to so much detail for us users but thank God for him.:beers:
