I mailed my Garrett ProPointer off for warranty repair on April 22 and received it back today (May 2). I have had it for 22 months, and it was about to come off of warranty. It had stopped vibrating, and most of the time, I would turn it on and it would go nuts. Other users on Findmall have called this a "bad coil" issue. Well, that's what it was.
Garrett repaired it good as new. In fact, it looks new except for the end cap that encloses the battery. I sent it to Garrett looking pretty rough with no paint left on the logo; it came back shiny and yellow. The packing slip indicates that Garrett replaced the speaker, the coil, and tossed in a new 9v battery. Wow.
Thanks Garrett for covering the repair and for getting it done so fast.
