I recently recieved Andys CTX3030 Book. And all my questions were answered. I might add he posted it to me in New Zealand at a loss. What a great guy.
I was particulary interested in his tweeked Minelab settings. So I downloaded them. And put them on the CTX. Am I impressed, yes I certainly am. I have been around all the CTX3030 forums, and all I got was more confused, this setting that setting. Frig I didn't even know what "Bins" were. Andy just covers the lot in easy, simple ways to understand.
He is a guru when it comes to the E Trac and the CTX3030. An added bonus in the book is found on the back page. And that is worth its weight in gold. Buy the book if you want to see it. And Andy if you read this. I found all your settings to be very user friendly. I just love your tweeked Relic Mode, with the iron grunt. I was always a TTF man on the E Trac. I put a coin right on top of a rusty nail, got an iron grunt on the first swing. Changed the swing to the opposite direction, and yep a grunt and a sweet chirp. Then experimented with the Coil wiggle, using the first swing. Grunt, then chirp. The screen told me all that was happening. I am impressed. Indeed. Thank you Andy.

Thanks for the feedback and glad the information helped you coax more performance from your CTX 3030.

As I have said, one of the secrets of the book (and others I have done) is the input provided by others that includes the basis for why they set things the way they do. Too often settings are posted and they may work fine in one area yet have no relevance for the conditions are your specific site and if you do not understand why the settings were what they are, you will be better off with a $20 Chinese import detector.

Not trying to knock anyone but when dealers claim that buying from them will enable you to receive the "magic settings" that unlock the detector's true potential without knowing what you are hunting or where you live is little more than a sales gimmick. I travel the US and internationally extensively and find that conditions are rarely the same even in the same state. Tweaks are needed to get the most out of the detector - any detector - and they are easy to identify once you understand what the functions do.

Love to see some of the finds you make in New Zealand . . . . keep us posted.
