Today we drove up to Bay City, MI (about 97 miles away from home) after church for my grandson Austin's 3rd birthday party.

At church Sherry said to fillout a prayer request card for a safe journey to and from the birthday party. During the sermon today the minister said "what are some of the things we do before going on a trip?" (He didn't know we were going anywhere - it was part of the sermon he had worked on earlier in the week. Of all the things mentioned no one said 'pray for a safe journey'. I was going to say it if he asked 'is there anything else we do?' But he didn't. Then he said "Before going on a trip shouldn't we pray for a safe journey?"
Knowing God isn't into coincidences I knew God would take care of us on this journey of pleasure. We drove to Bay City and then back to Lansing with no problems - until....
We got within 2 miles of home and someone pulled off a side street and he didn't slow down when Sherry hit the horn so the drive would stop. He didn't stop and had Sherry kept going straight she would have nailed his passnger side door. Sherry to keep from getting into an accident swerved to the right. Our van's front tire hit the curb and we had no place else to go and the accident was avoided. The other driver now safely ahead of us slowed down but didn't stop then kept going.
Well, we did have a problem:

The curb ripped a big hole in the sidewall of the tire.
We have a spare tire but the last time I used it for another flat the spare was flat. (I carry a pump in the van - just in case the spare is flat and have to blow it up before I swap tires.)
Well, first let me say Thank God we were kept from any injuries from avoiding the accident. The spare tire didn't need to be pumped up - Thank God again. Sherry called a Police Officer to come and helped protect the van while I changed the tire - and was there when the van rolled off the jack. Again Thank God no one was hurt and I coould get the jack back under to eaise the van up to put the spare on. The Officer provided light while I worked. (And had I gotten hurt by the jack coming out I sure would have had fast ambulance dispatch with the Officer there. Again Thank God that didn't happen.
We are home. A bit upset about the rude driver and a distroyed tire that will have to be replaced - the rim looks like it is still useable (again Thank God). We are all safe.
Thank God - Thank God - Thank God.
Even got to get some pics of my sons (Tom Jr and David), Sherry and Edith (Austin's Mom)and Austin.

Had a great - safe - day. Remember to pray for safety before you go anywhere.
