Texas pin pointer

Larry Bartlett

New member
These pin pointers are not reliable and not worth the cost. I bought one as a backup and when I had to use it the performance left a lot to be desired I.E. Pretty much if you can't see the coin when you pop out the plug you will have a very hard time finding it.

Are you talking about a Garrett Pro-Pointer? If so, you must have a defective unit or possibly a Chinese knock-off. I've been extremely pleased with mine and it is typically considered one of the best units available.

Edit: Just realized that you're more-likely talking about a Fisher pin-pointer....

No, my garrett pro pointer was being repaired by garrett. I believe the proper name for it is first texas pin point e r or texas first pin pointer, what ever the name, you do not what one.

Well my Garrett PP pointer other than occassional falsing in hot weather works just fine after 2 years of hard use. And its found me thousands of keepers.
I think you just might of got a lemon. I'd demand a new one from Garrett if its still under warranty.

I'm not referring to my garrett pro pointer, this is different brand of pin pointer called a first texas pin pointer, it has the on/off knob on the front of the handle. Garrett repaired my pro pointer just like New and I am thrilled with way the pro pointer works.
