I got my new explorer today , the dealer told me new explorers are coming with the new texas micromagic chip, this chip as better speed and on board casche than other proccesors , it is said to give 20% more depth.

Whats the serial number of your explorer? I wonder is it is higher or lower than mine. THANKS GARY

Good luck with your XLT.

I assume you mean DFX....
A friend went out Monday with a dealer and compared the Explorer to the DFX.
Here is a brief summary:
The first signal that we compared was deep. Both units read it as a good
target. At 6" I got a large rusted bolt. We checked the hole again with
both detectors. The Explorer read a dime signal-the DFX read the signal
as iron. The signal was a clad dime that was next to the bolt.
The next signal was also deep. The explorer read penn The DFX AND the
XLT got no signal. The target was a wheatie at 8", very corroded.
The next signal read a little below Indian on the smartfind. The DFX
read the target as a pull tab. The target was a Civil War suttler's
token. First regement-UR on one side. Good for 5 cents on the other.
The Explorer got a low quarter reading in a high ferrous spot. The DFX
only got a broken signal. The target was 2 Barber dimes together.
The DFX performed poorly in very high trash. It had a tendency to read
ferrous targets as good and good targets as ferrous.
Whites is also coming out with a
new chip for the unit, next month. I can understand why.

can you please give us your serial # because i find this hard to believe

I have been going to the different whites forums and looking for all these great old coins like are found on the F.B.S. forum.I don't think I have seen any silver found with them yet.You can bet that most diehard XLT owners have one but there just isn't hardly any posts about them.Well except for one Z guy but all his posts seem like bull,or at least slightly exaggerated. If they get the depth he claims, there would be more found than clad by now,IMO.

Ric, there isnt a brand forum with more finds posted than the FBS forum, and good finds in "hunted out" sites.. the truth is in the results.. hey I am hoping somebody does come out with something that can out do my explorer cause I will buy one.. but like I said you gotta show me not tell me.. This is the second comparison test I have recieved about the DFX and explorer, both with same results, and both from users that I trust to tell me the real scoop.. maybe the new chip will help, and of course the machine is new so its gonna be awhile for them to get it down.. hmmm lets see what it take a day or two after the first explorers were bought before the finds started <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)">, of course you wont even get a reply about the new chip on the other forum.. so we will wait and see....

i called minelab today they have not put any chip into any machine so that rumer is b.s.

Hey Tony, Ric IL, you are both correct on the identiy of the poster. Ring Professional/Ring Power/King Celt etc. Same person. He is posting from the UK and has been run off of all the other forums. Definately a Pull Tab for sure. TR has the internet Police investigating this guy for emails and causing trouble on his site. Just my take on a troublemaker.

because it would get deleted anyway, and it seems that anything negative is disregarded as false anyway
