Texas Finds

Rob (IL)

New member
I just got back from visiting my son in Texas. I got about 5 hours of hunting in. The town was established in 1953 so I didn't expect to find much that was old. I got to hunt two soccer fields and two tot lots. I didn't like the Burmuda grass or hard packed sandy soil. All the finds were shallow. I used the 10" excelerator but most of my coils would have found the coins. The 10" DD did give me good coverage. Rob

Not a bad pile there for your time. You could buy a few gallons of fuel with that. Or is diesel still a lot higher than gas? And I've heard gas down there is under $2. We have $2.08 here. Boy, is that ever nice. It's a bummer about camping and boating season being almost at an end. We're still hoping to get out before it freezes hard. Glad you're back home safe and hope you had an enjoyable time. Thanks for taking the time to post! HH to all, Nancy

The fuel prices are a joke. I paid $1.95 for gas in Springfield, IL and it's $2.58 here at home in Lockport. Diesel is $3.25 here and I saw it as low as $2.56 on the trip. I won't get out today and it looks like tomorrow is a rain day and colder. The shorter days won't help either. Rob

Great job Rob. Gas here is $1.85 I hope it stays down that low.:rofl: I can't believe I think that is low:rofl: when I first started driving it was 23.9 gal.

Glad to see you back Rob. WTG.

I used to visit there myself years ago and hated the mucky good they call soil around Houston. And that grass is armor plated, I swear.
