Testing my new camera mount gets me a deep Indian!

I have been working on a digital camera mount for some time now, and I got the working prototype earlier this week. It allows you to mount a digital camera on your detector's rod in less than a minute. I wanted to try it out in the field so I shot a video of the first decent target I came across, which turned out to be an IH at about 8" deep. The mount would sell for about $15, far less than the "GoPro" setup which costs more than $200. It worked like a charm, and I may order a few hundred from the manufacturer to see how well they are accepted in the MD community.

Here is the video!

At lunch and can't get WiFi to play the video well on my touch....still looks real promising Neil. Plus....sure looks a lot better than my duct tape contraption!

If you could figure out how to mount it so we could see the screen as well, that would make a great tool Neil. That is a great example at how Mixed mode works too.......... the occasional high beep that some of us would walk over in the Discrimination mode was well pronounced in the All Metal channel.

Unfortunately the V3's design puts your arm in the way of mounting it behind the screen, but I am working on a way to get that done!

For entertainment videos a hand held or head mounted camera works best. So all the digging and surrounding area can be seen. For instruction videos you need to see the screen.

Here is Robert's mount to see the screen.

He films with 2 cameras at the same time. One on his head and one for the screen. He then edits the two together. It is work. ROB

Great setup, but I think many people are just looking for a quick way to get it set and go. Besides, many of us do use units with no display such as the Minelab Excalibur or the White's TDI.

Amazon has this version, $19.99 each. just search for bicycle camera mount.

Whats this new trend, everyone thinks that their lives are so interesting,.Video taping all their activity, what could be more boring.

I'm thinking this comment is right up there with the best of them...what you think??

Move along....nothing "interesting going on".....*for some people. Sorry not ALL can be pleased.

I like the idea....it's to help KEEP the memories, and for youtube archives and education I image :)

Got my attention enough that I searched it down......but of course (I'm) not as interesting as you :wiggle:

Give me a break.....It's ALL about me

If your going to go that far for photography why not lessen the weight considerably and use a motorcycle helmet cam?? considerably smaller than a camera and still saves to a card.
