Here are the results my friends. What adjustments do I need to try to get that silver out of the ground? :surrender:

OK I turned it on and I checked to see what the numbers were.
All metal sensitivity 60. Hum: 0 Manual GB:90
Discriminate made: Sens: 60 Dis: 10 Tone: 1
Air test: 25 cent silver 7

Burdie:
Digadime69 here. Iread your post and I noticed that you only use the 1 tone. Have you tryed the 3 tone in your garden?
I use the 3 tone on coins when I hunt for coins only. I dont hunt for rilik,s. But try the 3 tone on a mixture of coins and trash.
You will notice a big diff. HH Don

Thanks for the suggestion I will try two and three. I just don't understand why it does not pick up the silver as well as the penny and nickel. I would have no complaints then.

Hey Matt are you out there?

Hi there Burdie. Thanks for the e-mail.

Can you do a re-test on your silver coin?

In normal Discrimination mode:- (Not All Metal)

Set your T2 disc to 52.

Two tones.

Sens. to 70.

Now try again, in each mode. Log results

Do it at Sens. 80 and repeat.

Can you give me any details about the silver coin?

Diameter, thickness, In air TID, %silver contents.?

p.s. Remember.....NO slow sweeping, please...........Matt

The dime nickel penny and nickel ring have been planted for three weeks. When I get back to town I will try some of Matts ideas. Thanks for your support. It is a mystery to me. I moved the quarter thinking maybe something was causing the machine to act that way.

Matt,

To you question about the US silver dime:

Dimension: 17.9 mm
Weight: 2.5 grams
Alloy: 90% silver 10% copper

Let us know your findings.

Rob in Tennessee...

Dug out my U.S. coins and used your settings ( Sens 60,Disc 10 etc) and had an improvement of around three inches on all targets against the air figures your getting so thats what I'd worry about first.
Can't someone just do your first test and see what results they get ?

I am back in town and the weather cooperating. Here is the other test.
Discrim. set at 52. GB at 62 and Sens at 70. The quarter ID was 90 did not move. Tone on +2. Sound was much stronger. I would at least give that signal a look. Now the dime.
Dime: Discrim set at 52. GB at 62 and Sens at 70. Tone +2. ID was 87-89 Sound was not solid but better. Hard to describe. Not a sharp cutoff on sound. Like something else there. I checked nothing in or near the hole.

Just changed sens to 80. Everything the same. Quarter read 90-92 strength of signal back to weak not sharp. Dime 86-89 jumped around every swing. sound scratch not solid. If I had not read ID numbers I would of kept going.
Thank you all for your help. I refuse to give up on this machine. It sounds off great on all the other coins as well as relics. I found a small broken piece of bullet 9" down that was a very strong signal.
Thank you for a great forum and great bunch of guys.

Thanks for reference data Rob, much appreciated.................

A few months ago I pulled an equitable English coin from beneath the roots of a tree, a depth of 10 inches.

The TID was about 80 and very repeatable. I had to burrow sideways under the root to reach the coin.

It ranks as one of the most impressive finds of my experiences over the past 39 years practicing the hobby.

You never did say if you had tryed the three(3) tone or not.How did you like the sound if you used the 3rd tone? HH Don

I liked the tone but it didn't make a differnce on the silver. I would not get a sound that would make me stop and check the screen. I like it on the penny and five cent coin. I feel like it is the only detector that is not pulling out a distinct sound. I don't want to look at the meter the whole time I am swinging.
Thanks for the help everyone. Hope your pockets are full of the good stuff.
