Tested the separation abilities of the Deus after work

Took the Deus to the trashiest part of the place where I live up right near the front of the house.
I have avoided this area in the past like the plague due to all the trash.
I heard this dime in the midst of this trash. This trash was in the same hole. I even got an 87 showing from time to time
so decided to dig. Was hoping for silver but, it at least shows I'm developing my ability to use the Deus in trash and that's a great thing.

Theres an old school near my house that I've hunted for at least 30 years. Theres one small area thats literally seeded with trash. When I was just starting out, I dug at least 40 silver coins here(still have them) Today the easy silver is about gone, but its still a blast to work the Deus around these trashy areas and still pull coins. I disagree with those who believe the Deus is not a good modern trash machine, but I think you either have to remove all of the trash or find one of those sites where the good stuff just doesnt sink deeply.

I totally agree with you. A lot of people bad mouth the deus because they simply don't want to take the time to learn it. But the deus unlock old hunting grounds that other detectors simply can't operate in on don't posses the technology. I was strictly minelabs coming from the ctx,etrac and all the explorers. But now Deus is the new sheriff in town.

I agree but and its a big but the minelabs outshine the deus on beaches hands down! that's why I have both!

I learned from Andy S. how to hunt with my iron silent and not lose depth. I have just a teeny bit of iron sound.
I couldn't believe when I dug into that crap the huge bent iron nail and other crap. There's another thing I didn't even show. It's an 7 or so inch long
aluminum spike they nail through a rain gutter that was in the mix. I could clearly hear the dime. It was unmistakable.
I gotta hit this area more. It's about a three foot strip going right up to the house and the entire length of the house.

Yes, it's cool. I learned that trick with the Explorer. Once one knows their sounds with years of experience, one could almost detect blindfolded.
In fact, maybe Deus should make one with Braille?
I'm just not super confident with sounds of the Deus yet but I listen first, look second. If the sound is good, it trumps the screen and I dig. You dig man?

I love my CTX. Its really been good to me. But the reason I bought the Deus is I have a bad back and the one thing that made it worse was standing in one spot waiting for the slow processor on the ML to recover in the trash even with the small coil. HH

The Deus is indeed a great detector for parks, regardless of all the existing canslaw and modern non-ferrous junk. Am at the stage now where I can detect at night working purely on the audio, using target sizing, tone strength and pitch to pick out the deeper/older coins. Also pays to develop a good mental picture of where most of the older targets fall in the soil profile over a given site, makes it easier to discern between desirable targets and shallower modern trash.

Despite some thinking that fulltones is a bit of an earful to work with, I still think it has the most tonal information on offer out of all tone options on the Deus, really not too much different to using my previous Explorer set on the highest number of tones and an open screen. Not everyone's cup of tea, though it works for me.
