Just wondering what test kits people are using for precious stones, gold and silver as im looking to get the stuff needed but have no idea what to get.

I just bought a "Diamond Selector II" on Ebay for about $75.00 including shipping. Works by measuring how the heat is conducted through the stone. Different gem stones and glass for that matter, conduct heat different from one another so the machine can tell if it is a diamond or not. If it is a diamond it will light up and it will beep. If it is not a diamond no sound will be made. As far as gold tester are concerned I have a Mizar 18 which will test 10, 14, 18 karat gold. If it is over 18 Karat it will show as 18 K. Works real good and costs about $100 or so on Ebay. They also make one that tests 9,10,12,14,16,18,22 and 24 karat at about $150.00. Hope this helps! Mike
