Test garden video??

I've been trying to locate a video I may have seen here about a year ago.
Someone designed a test contraption using PVC tubes.
He would fill an inner tube which was about an inch in diameter with dirt and insert it into an outer tube.(Maybe an inch and a quarter or an eighth?)
The inner tubes came in multiple lengths from about two to twelve inches.
The inner tube could be filled with dirt and slid into the outer tube which was buried in the test garden.
The two tubes fit quite snugly.
Also the inner tube had a cap system that allowed the insertion of coins, rings or whatever at the bottom.
This system was simple yet elaborate.
If anyone remembers this video or knows where the link is I would sure appreciate it.
Thanks

Never saw it but it doesn't sound like a very accurate test.

I saw one using a 5gal bucket with PVC tubes run through the side of it at varying depths.
The bucket is filled with dirt and a coin can be slid in and out of the tube using a paint stick or the like.
Its pointless unless you are testing multiple detectors in varying degrees of soil to get an idea how they compare to each other.

Ya I saw that one also. The one that I'm looking for is in a test garden.
The first PVC pipe was about 1 1/4 inches in diameter and you inserted a slightly smaller pipe which was filled with soil and had a container at the bottom for your coin or ring.
He also made the inserted pipe various lengths to simulate depth. 2-12 inches in 1 inch increments if my memory is correct.
I know it isn't perfect but I suspect it would make a pretty good tester for comparing different units, or what I want it for is to allow me to make program changes on my V3i and watch how the detector behaves.
With the addition of the soil it would be better than air testing. The other thing it allows is the addition of iron/bottle caps into the soil portion of the tube.
Thanx for your post.

Gotcha Gabby,

Would help a lot for testing different programs. I often forget about programs as I use manual controls.
Good luck with your search, if I come across anything I will be sure to forward it to you.

Wait, are you talking about the guy who built something like a 3x3x3 box that was filled with dirt and had the pipes running horizontally?

I also saw that video, and it is not the one I was looking for. This one is far more compact because in essence you have only one or maybe two or three larger pipes.( You really only need one)
You then insert the inside pipe of various lengths. The outer pipe had a screw top fitting to keep debris out when it was not being used. In this way a person could still cut the grass (If it was in your lawn area)
and the surrounding ground would be undisturbed. (ideal) the bottom of the inserted pipe is the part that I can't recall. I think it had some sort of screw fitting that allowed easy insertion of coins rings etc.
Also the little test compartment was separated from the longer tube so the dirt wouldn't spill out if you were changing the target (coin, ring) The neat thing about his idea was he had the various lengths labelled (length and content) and by simply removing the cover from the outer tube he could insert various different test tubes easily and quickly. And this setup would cost almost nothing to build, would be inconspicuous, and I believe as accurate as one would expect from a test garden. I also liked the idea where a person could have a few rods (inside pipe) laced with trash.
You have one outer PVC pipe buried in the ground. Then as many test PVC pipes that you want. The other part that I can't recall is the size of the two pipes. I believe the outer one was maybe 1.5 inches and the inner one was maybe .75 or 1 inch, though I think the fit was fairly snug. The inside diameter of the external pipe was close to the outside diameter of the fitting on the bottom of the inside pipe.
Really the most difficult part is finding the fittings he used.
Thanx for your reply.

The one you wanted was posted on the Whites V3i forum.
