Test coins

I hear if you plant a coin down deep an cant pick it up its because you just planted it.I hunt a lot of farm feilds that are just plowed I pick up targets from surface down to 14 inches.so I wonder if the theory of fresh planted coin realy holds any merit.just a thout ?

I think it can go either way. Sometimes a coin, especially copper will slowly decompose making it more difficult to detect over time.
