Tesoros with Threshold tone

I used to hunt with White's machines, which had the constant threshold tone, or "hum". I found that the hum was good for the deep items. I am a little surprised, however, that the "hum" on Tesoros is not present in the disc. mode(unless I am mis-informed). How is the best way to utilize this feature on Tesoros, if it isn't available in disc. mode? Thanks for any help.......

The models that have the threshold adjustment that I'm familiar with utilize it in all metal or all metal pinpoint mode only. I modified one of my Silver Sabre umax machines with a toggle switch that replaces the red pin point button in order to be able to switch to all metal and hunt in it when desired. I occasionally like to hunt in all metal switching to a preset disc setting on the go to determine trash or?
I may stand corrected, but I don't know that any of the tesoros offer the threshold hum in discrimination mode. They advertise the disc. mode as "silent search". Many prefer that, but I side with you in that I don't mind the hum in the background and it does help one notice those faint, deep bumps.

It is actually an aid to me to be able to hear a threshold hum. When I hear the threshold break, I know there's iron there. If there's iron, I know I'm in the right spot.At least when searching plowed fields and looking for where an old house used to be.

Thanks....It would be nice if they made the hum available for disc. mode. Oh well...guess I'll have to live with it like it is.....

10-4, Jim. I'm with you on that!!!

I like to hunt super tuned when the area is clean and you can't do that with the hum. I also liked the hum, but am trusting Tesoro silent search more all the time and the battery last longer. I still have to pass my trowel over the coil once in a while just to be sure it is working. Bill in Texas - My Vaquero is very stable.

I was a little bothered at first with the silent search but getting more used to it. Was used to AM with a slight threshold. I usually get into trashed areas so I know it's working, but the few times I got into clean ground, I caught myself checking to see that the machine was still working.

Right on, I catch myself checking to see if things are still working from time to time. Haven't felt that I'm missing much in the silent search mode, however.
