getting my wife the silver U max,, I stumbled onto the excellerator coils and was thinking about getting her another coil maybe the 5" but wanted to see what you folks thought of these or are the tesoro coils better?

Good choice on detector. AS for the excellerator..well I like Tesoro coils by far but thats just me. As for the 5" great coil for trashy areas..can really pick out them targets nicely.

Generally speaking, the manufactures coils, are always better suited for Their given detectors. I always go with a factory coil If I have a choice.
Tesoro has a very good selection of coil sizes, in both wide scan or concentric to cover almost every need.

I have a 5" excellorator II for one of my other detectors and it is a tremendous coil. It pin points like a rifle scope, but it's use's are very limited. It is a wide scan coil and I use it nugget shooting in highly mineralized soil. I went with it because the MFG did not offer a like coil for the detector and I had a very specific use for it.

I use the 5.75 concentric on both my compadre and Vaquero. It is a hard coil to beat in any situation. You cannot go wrong with that coil. It gets excellant depth, it is light weight, and will pin point with the best of them.
I prefer the concetric coils to the wide scans for 98% of my hunting.

smaller-size Tesoro coil. I refer to the 5

The Outlaw coils will work on the Silver.

If it wasn't for my Compadre, I wouldn't have known how good that coil is. Actually, it's both the Compadre and the coil. Do you think I should get one for my Golden even though I've already got the Compadre?
The Compadre can be a very good detector, with either the older-style 7" concentric coil or the current build with the 5

I only consider buying an after market coil if I cannot find the same or similar coil made by the detector manufacturer.

I consider the manufacturer coils to always be best.

If you owned a Minelab, I would safely recommend Coiltek coils, but that would be it.

My favorite coil is the 8 inch doughnut coil.

Golden coils also work on Outlaw..vice/versa as well as the silver. I like the tesoro line of coils and would recommend that with you machine. I cant speak for the excellarator coil but if you stick with the tesoro coil u wont be upest i promise.
