Tesoro with best Recovery speed...

Which Tesoro has the best recovery speeds for coin shooting in parks? I am contemplating between getting either the Vaquero, Cortes (because I have a good deal offered to me) or the Golden uMax.

The Cortes is a good deal, but I'm worried that the recovery speed might be slower than the Vaquero.

The vaquero should be faster, but they're both so fast I'm not sure there's enough difference to matter.
Have you tried them? I haven't tried the lobo or water machines, but all the other Tesoro offerings are lightning fast when compared to some fishers and most Minelabs.

If you must have the absolute fastest I say Vaquero.

I tested a fast sweep, the Cortes and the Golden with a IH penny and a Merc dime 6" apart on top of a cardboard box. They seem to be the same, both very fast. The Cortes will show ID changes on the meter and the Golden gives tone changes. 8x9 coils. Less than 6" apart gives one only beep.

The recovery speed of the newer Tesoro's (umax, Cortes, H.O.T) are all the same as far as I know.

Recovery speed generally doesn't mean Jack Squat unless you are hunting heavily littered sites.
In that situation my Silver uMax armed with the 4 inch round concentric coil becomes just the thing.
It isolates very well on single targets in proximity to others targets.
Conversely I am sure my Vaquero would perform just as well had I a small coil for it.
However I do not.
Thus my Silver uMax is my weapon of choice in littered grounds.

Vaq with stock coil or concentric 5.25" seems no difference in speed to me, I think it might be a fraction faster than the golden, but not enough to not consider the golden if you want to hunt with multi tones. The vaq will get deeper than the golden, but my nickel count was always higher with the golden. Both capable coin shooters, but the vaquero expands into other areas(relics, beach) with its depth and GB.

Thanks for replys.

Sqwaby, were you getting more nickel because of the notch on the Golden?

I do tend to hunt in trashy ground, but not all the time. The Vaquero seems to be the front runner at the moment, I have a good deal on the Cortes but there doesn't seem to be too many good reviews of it. In high junk areas you can't keep looking at the screen, and you need to dig fast. Not having a pp mode worries me, I use a screwdriver and want to recover targets quick.

The Golden doesn't have a ground balance, otherwise I'd love to get that because of the notch. Or maybe you don't need ground balance? There are coins deeper than 6".

I can't believe they don't just have a detector that has both ground balance and notch. The Tejon seems to be the closest to that.
