Tesoro vs AT Pro

Ok I am torn between adding a AT PRO or another Tesoro to my arsenal? Anyone have experience with both have any suggestions? The AT PRO really gets my attention due to it being water proof. However I like a machine with threshold the screens don't mean much to me. I swing a Sand Shark on the beach and have been happy with Tesoro. The lifetime warranty makes sense to me. I want a machine that can handle some beach use but a upgrade to my Fisher F2. Looking to pull the trigger soon. The Vaquero has caught my attention. Thanks for any suggestions.

Keep in mind, the AT Pro is waterproof but, only to 10 feet. And many owners will attest to the control box being too bouyant and has a lot of drag when submerged. So it's not as easy as a Tesoro to push through the water. Visit a dealer or another owner who has one, give it a test run, see if you still want it. I hear it's pretty good in iron trash with the 5x8 coil and can be a bit noisey. Tesoro's are like living in the country, AT's and many other multi-tone machines are like living in NYC. What enviroment would you rather relax in........................No harm trying another brand detector, if you don't like it, sell it.
Join the crowd, we have all been there.

Other than some beach use, what types of hunting do you do, or plan to do? What would make the Vaquero and AT Pro interest you as you narrow down your search for a new detector?

I have experience with both. Actually with most Garrett's and amost every Tesoro (except the water units), and I don't have a Garrett in my personal detetor arsenal, but I do have a Tesoro ... along with others.

Here's the part that isn't real clear. I, too, like to have a Threshold control as it lets me manually set a proper Ground Balance in the Threshold based All Metal mode. However, I am a bit "old school" in that while I have used silent-search Discriminators since the Tesoro Inca was introduced in '83, and do today with the silent search Disc. mode of the Bandido II

Most of my beach hunting is done with the Sand Shark. However a vlf that can handle the dry sand would be nice. My main goal is to get a machine for old coins , jewelry. I am not much of a relic hunter but enjoy finding anything unique! I would spend most of my time in parks, some fields (a little at the beach) and home sites. I would like to have adjustable discrimination. The F2 would become my sons. We have some nice old coins being dug around here. The ability to change coils would be nice as well.

On the Texas coast with low mineralized beaches. The Vaquero will do what you want in dry and damp sand. When you get into the wet stuff(waters edge) , you must reduce the sens which will cause a loss of depth.
My favorite non water beach machine is a Fisher CZ3D.

AT PRO= SUCKS. It's not really a deep machine, made cheap, sounds like an ice cream truck selling ice cream everytime it gets a signal, looks cheap, feels cheap, Tesoro has lifetime warranty, enough said.

I've owned all the "Flagship" machines from the big companies and in my soil there has been only one other that equals the AT Pro's depth. Quality is excellent IMO and the sounds are very good in helping identify targets.
