Tesoro Vaquero with Multi Tone ever be a possibility?

I know I've seen many people say that the Vaquero with multi tone functionality would be such an awesome detector. I definitely agree with this statement. What I'm curious to know is could it be a possibility to do? Im not talking about making a totally new detector, but do you think there will ever be an upgrade that Vaquero users can get so that the machine has multi tones? I'm just curious and was wondering your guys' opinions

Not an upgrade in my opinion. They would could make a new model. They need to make money just like the next guy. But I would love it too:)

I agree that Tesoro will not play around with the Vaquero, but an easy upgrade to an already good detector would involve the Golden Umax. They could easily add a manual ground balance to this detector and it would not compete with any of their other models. I have had several Umax Goldens and they worked great except in bad ground. The preset ground balance kills the depth in bad ground.Just my thoughts. R.L.

Maybe I'm the only one who likes the vaquero the way he is, only one tone

but two tones: one for bellow disc and another for above could be an interesting thing to see, sorry guys I don't like music in my detectors :)

I like my Vaquero just the way it is and I'm not sure if I would trade it in for a multi tone model or not.
Actually, after you spend some time with it, you can tell some tone variations even though it is a mono tone unit.
I like to use mine around old home sites out in the middle of nowhere and the lightweight advantage is more important to me than multi tone.

I mean I like my Vaquero too. Im just sayin......

If they did that I'd buy one tomorrow.

Heck, all I want is three tones. I don't even need four.

A low for iron junk, a mid tone in case I want to hunt jewlery, and a high for coins if I just want to coin shoot.

I agree, I can get 4 different signals with the vaquero: silence, broken, clear, and a bit higher in pitch

For those of you that want or already have a multi-tone detector do you base your dig on the tones. I guess what am I trying to say is even though I do not care for a multi-tone detector but if I had one I would dig everything that sounded off at my discrimination setting no matter if it was a low medium or high tone. I guess I just have alot of faith in Tesoro's discrimination circuitry.

I can see the advantage of selective multi-tone hunting at a beach or popular sports areas like volley ball courts, around swimming pool grassy areas that has an abundance of those pesky zinc pennies.

...After I have dug up more than a dozen of those pesky zincs, I would rather dig up pulltabs and nickel range targets, greater chances of finding goldin that conductivity range . But then again Location is a big factor here, if zinc pennies are thick as fleas on a dog's back...I'll take low tones for low conductors in the gold range, or high tones for targets with higher conductivity like clad dimes, silver dimes and silver jewelery. The old outdated Pantera that I have is a perfect detector for ID'ing zinc pennies that are'nt too deep, I just set the 'notch control at around 6 on the dial and it tone breaks or split tones on a zinc penny.

.....Don't get me wrong on zinc penny signals, I'll dig them allways in some locations, but when every other target is a zincoln, I'll pass on them if they are the predominant trash item there, I don't want to wear myself out for two or three dozen dirty rotten pennies. Some of my best finds have been in the zinc penny range, like old saloon tokens, deep barber dimes, indian head pennies, watch fobs and all kind of neat small items. But for me, if the zinc pennies are thick, I like to avoid them for now, maybe if I go back to the same place again, I can do some zinc penny mining.

The tones feature isn't difficult to build into a detector. One can buy one with loads of tones fresh out of China for under $100. In fact lots of things can be done cheaply including auto ground balance. What isn't cheap is quality and quality is what really counts.

I've used many tone and meter gimmick machines and what I always end up doing it adjusting the discrimination/sensitivity levels and I forget the meter and tones. You just can't trust them, period.

Each location has it's own unique ground conditions that I learn quickly by digging a dozen targets or so. The tones and meter readings can change due to many factors. So I draw upon experience with that discrimination knob and anything that in the slightest invokes interest gets dug. I've dug gold when the meter and tone said TRASH.

I'd like to see some upgrades in some areas but tones and cartoon meters aren't necessarily it.

I used to hunt with my buddy's multi-tone XTerra 705. On trashy sites the unit is playing complicated music so in an hour you have headache listening to it. Really, how will the 3-tone unit sing if a copper coin is surrounded by nails? Now I own Vaq and just love it - everything sounds simple. Besides that it is much easier to swing than that 705, and the V consumes less batteries.

I agree! I used one last month. It sounded like I was in a school of Dolphins!
