tesoro vaquero vs fisher 1270. has anyone here compared the 2 in the field?:help:

why? they are two complete different machines, by to different makers there is no comparision IMHO:nono:

Woodchuck,

I would think that a general comparison could be made, especially if the two are of the same class detector.
We compare similar vehicles from two different makers all the time.

Im sure you're right Woodchuck. I was just wondering if anyone had used both detectors, and was looking for their experienced opinion concerning the differences in performance of the 2 detectors. Whether it be coin or relic. They are different machines, made by different folks. If they were not DIFFERENT I would not have had any need to ask the question. Since I've got you here I'd like to take advantage of your experience. How does the 1270 compare to the Fisher Gold Bug SE. I have several machines. One is a Tek G2., awesome unit. I know they're different machines but which one gave you the best results in general hunting. Thanks for your response my friend.

They are both super machines the fisher @ 8.2khz the vaquero @14.5khz but in my experience the 1270 is deeper but the disc i find better on the vaquero and the depth by the way is using stock coils the 1270 is like running the tejon double disc trigger switch and the 1270 simaler the vaquero is deadly on pinpointing the 1270 is wide on targets and sems to make the object sometimes bigger than it is, ground balancing or atleast in my ground both worked really good for the most part the 1270's never had to bother with such control function and handled hot mineralization very well the vaq once in a while depending where it was had to adjust for hot rocks as far as swingning all day the vaq is super candidate here plus 1 9volt the 1270 is heavy compared to the vaq and runs 2 9 volt batterys but if you are all out relic the 1270 is the king if your a coin shooter the vaq is better suited for the task but really either one is a power house in its own right it really all boils down what type of audio tone you like better i slightly prefer the 1270 better over the vaq but the low tone is my preference on the vaq as well which ever you choose your not going to lose, just my opinion.

Okay I'll bite I loved the 1270, I used as coin and jewelry detector, I think it really excelled in both areas but thats me.Yes it has a wide target area under coil, but I overcame that little problem. Yeah its a little heavy over some other detectors, but I had worse. If I had to choose over two detectors one a Tesoro or Fisher 1270 I would have to go with 1270 with Tesoro as a second. As for Gold Bug SE and 1270 I'm bias would have to go 1270. I have found so much more with beep and dig machine over TID screen etc.Gold Bug just didn't speak to me .But thats just me again.

As far as the G2 is concerned you got to think its a gold machine or more or less intended and that automaticly tells me its going to be high end of the freq scale of 15khz and has increased sensitivity, so that being said here is what that is good for gold, small targets in general, hammered coins small buttons, where the 1270 on the other hand is more suited for general hunting great on silver plus by theory and some do prove that will go deeper of the lower freq if you can keep both thats the way to go, like on my deep tech equipment the rg 1000 uses 12khz and my Vista gold runs @ 25khz will be using this extensivly this summer for gold prospecting
