Tesoro Vaquero :tesoro::usaflag: Picked Clean

I went back to the site this morning that has been producing some really good silver coins, only to find one lone Buffalo Nickel. The ground is drying up fast from our last rains and is getting bone hard again. Maybe the downpour that sent me running for the car and home early this morning will soften the ground back up. :thumbup:

For the record, and I got this from a very reliable source, the only difference between the Cibola and Vaquero from the factory is the ground balance. Period.
The PCB itself is identical and if I'm experiencing anything different, it's coming from the modded Ground Adjust Pot or is "psychological".:blink: After further thought, it must be the coil that's making the difference that I'm experiencing. The DD coil is producing a faster and sharper audio tone that I enjoy hearing. I'll get it figured out one day.:)

A Tesoro 5 x 10 inch DD coil should come in the mail today and that will give me something more to compare.:detecting:

Tab, a few years back when I was contemplating either the vaq. or the cib. after a few phone calls to the good folk at Tesoro. I was assured the same thing, they are the same with the exception of the gb pot. I went with the high tone vaq. and have never regretted it. I find myself grabbing it over the tejon nowadays. hh

well then, thats what i thought. but, everyone said no their different. on this forum, youtube and facebook sites. glad i stuck with getting the vaquero now for the extra 100 bucks. thanks for clearing that up tabman. so did you pay more for that modded chibola than a new vaquero?

No, I didn't pay more for the modded Cibola. I got an excellent deal from a forum member who did the mod. Now I do like the trigger switch on the modded Cibola better than I do the push button on the Vaquero. The modded Cibola and Vaquero are both excellent detectors. You can't go wrong with either.

Tab I think you will love that 5x10 tesoro coil , Now thats a toasted buff allow nickel may the rains come and soften the grand

Tabman, you can ask Sven, but you are incorrect on that statement. They are almost identical- the Vaq and Cibola have a different programmable chips in them. People that have compared the chips in each say they have different program version numbers on them. It is said that it gives slight differences in disc settings and who knows what else. More info on this can be found on NASA Tom's forum.
