Tesoro Vaquero :tesoro::usaflag: A Tale Of A Tail :detecting:

Beaver Tails that is.:) I marked out a10 x 20 foot area to detect. I wanted to see what all that I could find in that small area, so I started digging. It was mostly beaver tail pull tabs and screw caps. Maybe 2 or 3 clad coins. I got tired of that so I left there and went back to the ole virgin site. I decided to dig any signal no matter have broken as long as it was deep. I dug five really deep nickels and one wheat penny. I love to hear the all metal mode when I switch over to it give out a soft whisper woo sounding audio. I know by that audio sound tht the target is deep and likely something good. I'm telling you guys, the Vaquero loves nickels. I ended up getting a couple of Indian Head Nickels and yet another silver War Nickel. That's 23 silver coins from that one small site. I can't wait until it rains again and we get some cooler temperatures. I know there's some big silver coins waiting for me to dig them up.

I know what you mean about the good all metal sound. Id like to have a vaquero with a seperate threshold knob just for all metal .

I've been keeping the threshold set to a slight hum on mine where I can flip over from the discriminate mode to the all metal mode without getting my ears blasted. The lower threshold setting helps me to gauge the depth in the discrimination mode. Also I'm not digging as much deep iron targets with the lower threshold setting. With my Killer B Wasp Headphones I hear even the faintest signals without having to run a high threshold.

That sure must be a honey hole. Nice coins.
Do you keep your junk. I have 4 five gallon buckets. One for tabs and can slaw. One for copper. One for brass and one for steel. I have done this for many years. When one gets full, I stop at the local scrap yard. Just a little mad money... KEN

Every time I fill up a 5 gallon bucket with my junk I pour it over into a large cat food bag and throw it into the recycle bin to be recycled. I guess that I should separate it and see what I could get for it.

Those Indian head nickels always seem to turn real red like that, I know the couple that I found were the same way! You have done some mighty fine detecting! Congrats!

Nice hunt, That's a lot of trash for that small of area, but you're getting that pesky trash out of the way that may be masking some nice coins below. Have you tried the little 5.75" concentric coil at this site yet? I bet it would pull a few more coins out of that area.
The Vaquero is a nickel killer for sure....I found several buffalo and V nickels at a pounded site with my Vaquero. It may be better on nickels than the Fisher CZ's....and that's some pretty good company to be compared to.
Hit that site until there isn't a peep from your Vaquero..... bet there's more nickels and a few more silvers there.... I enjoy your posts and seeing your finds............Good luck and HH.
