Tesoro Vaquero sens..on bad ground

I got my first tesoro last summer and spent alot of time with it.The air tests are really impressive. But hunting in the trashy grounds that I do..Leaves me wondering why I dont find much.I can run the machine's sensitivty at 10 or more most of the time. And it runs stable.I'm lucky if I can run past 6 or 7 with other machines. But find coins.Am I masking?I've heard so many great things about the V...Am I running to much sens....How do I find out when I am running to much?P.S...this is in disc.mode.Thanks..Any impute is welcomed.

My questions, where are you setting your sensitivity? Discrimination?? Are you getting nickels, or are you higher to eliminate trash? My "V", all bundled up against the cold ,will hit on anything within range, and goodies outside the range as well. What size coil? How close to the ground? Are you going to need a coil cover to keep from wearing your coil to a frazzle? What kind of over lap? As Dave mentioned this site is a college education in detecting..You are asking a question, I am learning to ask questions that may provide some clarity to the problem..Does the ground balance change within your search pattern area? Have you had to re balance the detector? If you can reply to all or most of my questions, the real experts will arrive and get you going.in no time.. cordially Nad

Maybe you should practice in a less trashy place where the signals are a good 5 feet apart, like in a park big grassy area far from picnic tables.

I find the V machine to run stable most all the time. I run the sens at 7- 8 most times, and the disc just below nickel, the exception would be relic hunting or an older home site(deeper targets and little trash). The old park where I coin shoot is so bad with tabs, cans and aluminum slaw that most times run with high disc. Which causes me to find few targets, usually about 90% coins, mostly pennies, dimes, quarters and screw caps. is this where you run the disc? The V has very good target seperation(fast retune) so masking is seldom a problem at least for me.

Well....sesitivety I'm running on 10 or more, because the machine runs quiet.Or stable that is.I'm excepting nickles on disc..I'm running stock 8x9 coil...I run at least a 50% overlap...I do check ground balance often...And I run the coil an 1" above ground. My main ? is...Just because a machine is running quiet..Does that mean it is running stable? Thanks to all for the response so far...

I run my sense at tha highest level
that I can and still hunt comfortably.

That's what Monte usually does also.

I like to get as much info as I can.

I think it also increases your likelyhood
of finding small goodies.
