Yesterday the Vaquero found me my first War Nickel. It also found me this nice Mercury Dime and a bunch of old Wheat Pennies. Some of the Wheat Pennies where down around 8-9 inches. The War Nickel was only about 4 inches deep and the Mercury Dime was around 7 inches deep. Not pictured is a old mushroomed lead bullet and buckshot. I had the discrimination set at the mark between iron and nickel. The threshold was set at 9:00 o'clock and the sensitivity was set just pasted 10. I was digging all faint signals that gave a repeat signal both ways.
tabman, I thought that was the case but had to ask. You had a a good day with some nice finds. I haven't found a war nickel with my V yet, but have found several V nickels in a place hard hunted........HH.
SWEET!!
Would love to see a video of your rig in action.
Can't run my Cibola sensitivity past 9-10 or it babbles senselessly, BUT if I get a weak hit and crank it up, I can tell if it's a digger.
I'll start doing more videos when I figure out how to protect my $$ cam from all the dirt!

Yeah I do basically the same thing. I run my Vaquero as hot I can without any babbles. When I hear a faint deep sounding signal that's breaking up, I turn the sensitivity knob all the way up and the discrimination knob all the way down. If I can get the weak signal to beep swinging both ways I start digging. If I can't, I move on.
Here are a couple more pictures of my finds that same day. The "1/20 12K" ring made my heart pound until I realized it was not solid gold. The Vaquero really likes buttons and lead bullets. The second picture is something that I've never seen before. I think it's some kind of dial. The nickel is for reference.
I'm not going back to that location again with the Vaquero until it rains and softens the ground a little. The V is hitting really deep targets. I'm wore out from digging them.

I'm sorry about poor quality of the pictures. I have a really good camera, but poor lighting. I'm going out to get me a desk lamp today.
