Tesoro Umax Observations

Cherry Picker

New member
I traded for a Tesoro Sidewinder Umax as a backup Ghostowner. I took it out for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised at the depth and discrimination qualities of this little beauty.
Seemed like at higher disc. ,say 4, I was able to run the sensitivity pegged wide open but if I lowered the disc. to say 0, I had to lower the sensitivity to have a stable detector. Is this the way most Umax's operate. Seems the disc. and sensitivity work kind of in unison to each other.
Has anybody had the same results with their Umax.
Thanks
Jerry
PS. I'm 58 with a frozen Shoulder, do I like the light weight or what.

That is the way that i have seen it in the UK jerry.
We set our detectors to knock out the iron and accept every thing else over here and we go for maximum depth. So the settings that we use are 1 on the disc and 10 on the sens.
I know that you guys in the USA like to run in all metal to clear a site out, and i also know that the sidewinder is a sensitive detector so if i was you and you want to run the detector fully open i would just lower the sensitivity to 9 or even 8.1/2 .
I would also try your detector on disc 1 and sens 10, it should give you a strong bleep both ways on a good targets and a one way bleep or a iffy sound on a bad target or iron.
Hope that this helps.
