Tesoro Toltec 2 depth

texican

New member
How deep is the Tesoro Toltec 2 say on a quarter size target with the sensitivity at around 7 in disc mode in mild soil? Discrimination seems to be excellent from reading I have done, wondering about depth,. Thanks is advance

texican,

I've had my Toltec ll since brand new in 1995, lots of hours in on it. I found a seated dime at around 6 to 7 inches deep, quarters around 8 or so, six inches is pretty deep for instance, if you take a dollar bill (6 inches) to measure with you will see what i mean. I've read posts on the E-Trac forum and it was agreed by a couple of users that six inch targets were not the greatest signals on their E-Tracs, so it is pretty much how well you can set up and use your detector. The Toltec ll has a port on the back side of the control box near the coil cable connector and under a little plastic cover is a coarse adjustment for ground balance, it is important that this is adjusted properly for optimum depth.

Hombre, thanks for the reply. I was getting about 7" on a quarter air test without adjusting the coarse adjustment. Thanks for the information.

texican,

The ground balance on your Toltec ll may be allright......just put it in auto-tune all-metal (adjust threshold to barely perceptable), find a clean piece of ground and raise and lower coil to the ground from about 8" high to about 1". It should barely raise the threshold tone as coil aproaches ground level.
