Tesoro tiger shark for freshwater

So for some reason I'm really feeling an urge to water hunt. I live in central New York so I'm surrounded by lakes, ponds and streams, so freshwater is what I would mainly want to do. I would very seldom salt water hunt. I'm interested in the Tesoro tiger shark, but havent seen many finds people have made with it or a lot of reviews. I'm hoping some of you may be able to help me with this and could post some finds you have made with it or any general knowledge. I can't just go out and buy one but this is just an idea. I have a Vaquero at the moment which is great for land.

I have used the Tiger Shark in the sea water only and I can say that is is not ideal for that. I could find stuff, but there is no comparison to MF or PI detectors (I knew that). I yet have to try it in fresh water, but as a land detector it is very sensitive to small things and its depth is on par with the uMax line from Tesoro. I would expect the same in fresh water, as it does not influence the detecting much if at all. I have compared air test to Fisher 1280x (8" coil) and Detector Pro HH Wader (with 10" coil) and it seems a bit more sensitive and deep as well on rings and coins. It can also find smaller stuff. It is not a great difference, but every extra inch is good. My TS is with the 10.5" coil and I would recommend that size unless you are limited by space - but the 8" is not much smaller.

Hey Bobby, I love my tigershark for fresh water hunting, it's a single tone but it will delivery! It's real sensitive to small gold like chains small rings, not to mention its built like a tank, by all means get it if you can afford!!!! HH tigerhank68

I second Hank68 above. My Tiger Shark works great in my fresh water lakes. Can be pole mounted or hip/chest mounted and has always performed great. Lifetime warranty from Tesoro can't be beat. This from a dyed in the wool White's fan.

Love my Tiger Shark! I've found really small items that my Vaquero would have missed. I detect in fresh water lakes and have found many rings, coins and bottle caps. You won't regret getting one.

Thanks, I appreciate the input...I was mainly concerned with hw it compared to others in JUST freshwater and it seems to me like its a killer

Well now I might have the ability to buy a Stingray II for a lot cheaper..it has been refurbished by the factory and everything so its in tip top shape. Is there a real difference between the two? I hear they are pretty much comparable

Go for it. The Stingray works great on small gold just like the Tiger Shark.
