Hi there,
I am in need or a replacement 4 pin metal plug (coil lead barrel plug) for this machine whose original got trodden on and badly damaged. I live in UK and unfortunately, no one here, including the main Tesoro importer can supply these. Can anyone point me to a US or otherwise retailer that can supply this part? Any info. will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Tony

Pentecnic want the detector sent in for them to fit it. This is just a simple four lead wiring job a child can carry out but they will not sell the plug. That is the way it is over here. Some electronics dealer/shop must stock this type of plug? They are nothing special and I could easily fit a similar but different type of plug and socket, but then I will have the same problem if I want to use another size coil or indeed if I sell the machine?

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I do no think Radio Shack has any branches in the UK. Have tried other similar electronic components suppliers but the connectors they sell here are not the same as the ones fitted to Tesoros. I wonder if any US Radio Shack would ship to UK such small order/item?

Find some ham radio guys and ask them for a parts source... it's a 4pin mic connector.

try rs electronics
or try staffordshire metal detctors, he always has lots of used coil;s on ebay, maybe he has a broken one, and might post the plug out to you.

good luck

Thank you all for suggestions. Have tried all possibilities outlined here and no one can help. I am a ham radio operator by the way, and the mic. connectors that are available seem to be the same from all electronic supplier sources, including Radio Shack, RS Components and the like. They are the standard 4 or 5 pin male and female connectors which are very similar but not the same (these have a slightly broader head and not compatible with the ones Tesoro use). It looks like they may be specially made to order? I do not believe it though and someone must stock them, so short of giving up, I will try Tesoro themselves, although it will be quite obvious what they are going to tell me?
Thanks again
Regards to all
Tony
