I haven't been doing much detecting lately, so thought I'd give it a swing today. I decided to go back to the virgin site that now has been hunted to death and dig all iffy signals to see what turns up. I found a lot of trash but did manage to find several wheat pennies ( 1936, 1920, 1944, 1926, 1950 ), a Buffalo Nickel and couple of pieces of silver. I could tell that the sterling heart was old before I even looked at the date on the back. I found the Rosie next to a sidewalk. I don't know how I missed it before. I can't remember how many pieces of silver that have come out of this site that is only about the size of two tennis courts. Somewhere around 30 I think. Anyway, I was using my normal settings. The weather was nice and I had a great time.:)

Thanks. I might hit it again tomorrow, but I'm hanging around the turkey on Thursday:). We need to get together for hunt on Monday. Find us an old house that's knee deep in silver coins. I'll bring a rake and wheelbarrow.

Thanks. I'd like to know the history on the locket. I bet someone was really sad when they lost it.

Tabman,
Nice work as always.
I'm never surprised by what goodies you find,
But I marvel at your trash piles! Digging that much is real dedication!
Nice work!

Another great hunt Tab. Nice score on the silver and wheats. I bet someone was really upset when they lost that locket.

Don't eat too much Turkey or you are really gonna have to get and hunt to wear it off!

That heart is special. too bad there is not a name on it .

Yeah that would have made an interesting return. All we can do now is surmise who owned it and how it got lost.

Thanks. I'm extremely proud of my trash piles.:) Several pieces of iron in the pile were found in the same hole with pull tabs. I had iron discriminated out so every time I found some iron I'd say this isn't right and start looking for what the detector was sounding off on. I learned early to always recheck my holes.

My last token was in the same hole as a nail. As soon as I found that nail I knew that is not what I heard. I get a little more competent each time I use the Vaquero. My brother was watching me awhile back and I correctly Identified three targets in a row. One was a ball of aluminum foil.

nice...glad you got out and hit some silver!.:clapping:.. thats a hell of a junk shot! might be one of your largest junk shots all year? Great effort, stay in it at least over this weekend if you can...

Thanks. I'm beginning to believe that you can't completely work out a site. Something to do with the moon, I think.

As long as there are trash targets there could be good targets remaining as well. You have to dig it all to unmask the good stuff.

Someone would have to hit that site in 'all metal mode' to clean it out.

Yeah, that does make it special. I wish you could detect in some the sites that I hunt. You'd be hog heaven.

Thanks. I dig my share of trash looking for the good stuff. I really can't help myself if I hear a target I want to dig it and see what it. :)
