THERES A GUY IN MY AREA WITH A TESORO STING RAY FOR SELL.HE JUST HAD EVERYTHING REDONE ON IT AND HAS ALL THE PAPER WORK.ARE THEY GOOD MACHINES AND HOW MUCH WOULD IT BE WORTH? THANKS IN ADVANCE GUYS.HH

I have a Stingray 2 and I uset at fresh water lakes. It does well and is super sensitive to small items. Prefer it to the the AT Pro that I had previously.
Worth about $300.00

I have a frend with one. Yes about 300.00 is the going price. Volume knob is on the INSIDE which is a pain.

Thanks I was able to get it for 275.00 with a curved handle scoop carrying bag digger some sort of probe.I was also able to get the paperwork where Tesoro had replaced the faceplate, coil.battery compartment and the seals in May of this year. It's like a new machine.Any tips would be great.I only hunt fresh water lakes.Maybe go to the coast once every couple a years.I do wonder how I will get the small gold from falling through the scoop. Thanks again.HH

Just like bullets and small pieces of foil, YOU WON'T stop them from falling through the scoop. I dive and used his last week. That thing finds SMALL things GREAT. Like eyelets for shoe laces. A lot of the old ones were brass. I hit so many small targets it wasn't funny. I will find a picture I took last week with a wheat in the middle for comparison.

Never found any small gold though. This was all in a fresh water lake in Michigan. Everything in the picture gave a great signal.

You did well buying it for $275. Like Scuberdetector said....you won't stop the small stuff from falling thru the scoop. I bought
a scoop from a friend that has a 2nd piece of tin formed and screwed into the bottom of the scoop and it also has a
magnet. This helps some. Look at the modification forum.

Go to home improvement store, buy a section of gutter screen that's made to keep leaves and crap out of your gutters. Take tin snips and cut it to fit down in your scoop kinda like a coffe filter shape. If you cut it to fit snugly it will stay in place then take some RTV silicone and seal the edges to keep crap from working in between it and your scoop. This will get those stud earrings, earring backs and any other small targets and will keep them in your scoop.

Metalfun:
The only tips that I have are:
1.do a good ground balance
2 set disc @ 3 on motion disc
3 don't overstress connections at coil or screw in plug
4 go slow and enjoy.
5 clean shafts after each hunt.
6. always clean away the sand and re silicone the gasket area when the box is opened to prevent leakage.
