Tesoro Silver Umax Chatter

I was hunting today and my friend has a silver umax ,,,It chatters a lot and tried turning down sensitivity and didnt help,,,Can shake and it goes crazy,,,Still finds but is making a lot of noise,,Maybe coil? Any help appreciated,,,My Cibola worked great,,,

tighten the coil wire wher it meets the control box. good and tight.
Batt check?

Thump7 gives a good place to start. The coil may have a problem. I had one that had a minute crack that let water in from wet grass that would do that until it (the coil) dried out for a day or two. As mentioned above, near dead battery can make them go beserk, as well.
