I had someone offer to sell me a Gold U Max for 275.00 and I can buy a new Silver U Max for 239.00+tax is the Gold better for relics??????

I don't know about the Golden, but the Silver is a great relic machine. I've found more with it than any detector I own.
 
Never have used the Golden myself.
It has 4 tones to ID Targets and an adjustable Notch.
Am told it is a very good machine.
As for Relics, there is a guy who posts as Little John(right now I can`t remember if he`s in North or South Carolina) who has one of the most awesome collections of Buttons I have seen. His primary machine is the Golden. In my opinion that is clear evidence the Golden is a great Relic machine.
