Tesoro sand shark question

New member
Newbie here so pardon my ignorance . Can somebody tell me the difference between two different images of the sand shark I have come across . One has a square box with multiple knobs, the other has a cylinder type control box with only two knobs I believe. I have a chance to get the latter one at what seems to be a reasonable price and thought it would be a good starter unit for a beginner. Thanks

The square box Sand Shark is made by Tesoro in the USA and is a very good performer.

The round tube Sand Shark is made by a company called treasure hunters that I have not been able to find where it actually develops and makes the detector. I have only found two reviews of the round tubed one and neither is positive.

I'd recommend not getting the round tubed one and saving your money until you can afford a detector made by one of the well known manufacturers.

Spend some time reading the forums and researching more. And please feel free to ask more questions. Lots of people on these forums want to see newbies succeed. We were all newbies at one time. There is always something new to learn and that keeps metal detecting interesting.
Cheers,
tvr

Thanks so much, should have figured if it sounds too good to be true it usually is. I'd rather spend a little more money on a trusted unit with the hopes of more time lookin at the goodies and less time lookin for them with a subpar unit. Headed to st.john in a month and absolutely can't wait to hit the beaches. Thanks again.
