Tesoro Sand Shark Overall?

Dodo the 3rd

How good is the Tesoro Sand Shark overall on black sand and saltwater combined beaches? I was thinking about investing in one because I wanted to start doing some shallow beach hunting. Nothing too fancy as long as I can submerge the whole thing into the water without it breaking. Thanks!

Black sand, I could not tell you because I've never used it there.

But I have heard good things from posters in the past who have used it in the black sand.

It does well over pretty heavily streaked areas of black sand at the salt water beaches I've hit on the east coast of the US. It is possible to sweep the coil too fast and get a response from the dense black sand areas, but if you are sweeping quickly you are sweeping too fast. Best depth in all conditions I've use it in are at relaxed sweep speeds.
Cheers,

good choice - one of the reasons tesoro's come with a lifetime warranty is because they are built solid. i've used a shark for over 5 years & have not babied it at all.

On some of my beaches in southern california, with very hot black sand, the sand shark was unuseable. Overloaded every sweep. If you are on the east coast you should be fine, but west coast ground is very very hot, best to have a machine with ground balancing/tracking.

Hi, Just bought a sand shark and own a tiger shark as well. Sand Shark is a PI machine , its a great machine but you will dig all metal. If you want to find GOLD YOU WILL DIG TRASH. Just the way it is, but its fun because you never know what you going to dig up so the anticipation is always there. Invest in a good stainless steel treasure scoop and make your self a sifter out of 2 inch pvc pipe and Hardware Cloth and your in business. Remember treasure hunting is location, location, location, Do you research and go to places where people are apt to lose valuables. Like resort beaches where people have money. Hunt 2 hours before low tide to about 2 hours after , knee to waste deep and you will be fine. Remember the deeper you go the less junk you find. Good hunting...
