Hey all , new compadre owner, upgrade from an ace 250. I love this machine , I wish I would have gotten it first . I'm enjoying reading all of the post here , lots of info to go through. Just thought I'd say hey.

Compadre is the best bang for the buck IMHO.

I started with the yellow 250 , wasted six months as our clad is all iron

Sold 250 and bought compadre . It has paid for itself 3times over in less than a year , finds jewelry like a bloodhound

Enjoy HH

is that you j. gatlin from the tesoro page on fb? told ya there was some good stuff in this forum.

the compadre is still the best detector I know at getting close to metal fences & poles & concreat sidewalks,

Look out. Here we go again. Another COMPADRE user. Now our jewlery count will go down. No wonder I am not finding many gold chaines any more. Getting more and more COMPADRE users. You are going to love that thing. It will soon be talking to you. Learn what it is telling you and you will have a blast.. Stay out of my TOT LOTS...
KEN IND :starwars:

I have tried many detectors, but keep coming back to the Compadre. It's that good.

If ya'll keep bragging so much on the little compadre....you'll force the prices up on em!

Compadre is a fantastic detector, lots of good folks here on the forum.

the compardre isn't just for tot lots, i use it everywhere even on football fields,it has almost paid for itself in 2 months, that's a lot of walkin and diggin ,but i'm retired and out every day. I stayed with original small coil, i didn't want to mess with success according to the posts i was reading

Thanks everyone . I do really like this machine. I've been using it every chance I get and am starting to get the picture of what's its telling me . I do have a question though . today I was hunting a yard and a couple of sections the tone was really chatty , I could still pick out targets and pin point them . the dirt was really dark almost black . I was running it at the I in iron . was the ground just really highly mineralized ? It was just strange .

It is possible that you were in a trashy area. Items that are not totally discriminated out will give you pops and clicks in the audio. Some even give choppy hits if they are right on the edge of your disc. setting. This is good. These are the areas that lesser detectors and inexperienced people miss the good stuff. When you get a situation like this slow way down and overlap your passes. When you get anything that sounds good tighten up your swing area and zero right in on it. With some multi-tone detectors in this area you would go nuts trying to figure out what all that audio was saying. Tesoro is easy, just listen for that one good tone and dig. Tesoro's excel at separating trash from goodies.

Welcome to Tesoro, your money was well spent on the Compadre!

That's what I did . I went really slow and could pinpoint targets pretty easy. I did dig a couple of Penny's and of course some pull tabs in that area . yup , if I would have used the ace there , I would have given up.

My Silver only got chatty one time and that was when I was over a buried phone line. These detectors seem really immune to EMI. It is very easy to confuse a trashy area for EMI. If you hold the coil up in the air at say waste level, and it is still chatty, you've got EMI. If it isn't chatty when held in the air, it is doubtful it is EMI, that is of course unless you are over a buried phone or power line.

It turned out it was just really , really trashy .

Been there myself. If you hold your detector parallel to the ground about waist high and you still here noise it's EMI. If you hear nothing holding it this high you do not have EMI. I have areas that you can't go 2 inches without hitting trash. No worry, just slow down the swing speed and you will pick the coins right of the trash.
