Tesoro repair time

Cboogie

New member
I'm about to ship my 7inch compadre in for repairs. Anyone give me a idea on the turn around time?

Thanks

Well----Beings you haven't gotten an answer to your question--I'll give it a shot.----Apparently Tesoros don't break down very often (and I believe that)--thus the reason for lack of answer to your question.------When I have had mine in to Tesoro, the turn around time was about two weeks if I sent it in--less if I dropped it off at the plant---and that was just for check overs/adjustments (if needed).----I suppose the turn around time (may) be a little longer if they don't have parts needed & have to order them.-----What's wrong with your Compadre?---I would think they could/would repair your Compadre--but quick!-----Rusty Henry is a top service manager--can't be beat.---The only problem is--he's going to be retiring before long.----------Del

I SENT IN A VAQUERO ONCE THAT WOULD NOT GROUND BALANCE. I AM IN TENNESSEE SO THE RIDE TOOK THREE OR FOUR DAYS, ONE DAY TO GET IT LOOKED AT. THEN WAS CALLED ABUT THE PROBLEM. AGREED TO THE REPAIR AND HAD IT BACK IN THREE OR FOUR DAYS. :detecting::tesoro:

Took exactly one week to get one back, when I sent in a Vaquero for the high tone modification. They're pretty quick!

How much was the high tone modification I may send my Vaquero in over the winter to get it done

Used to be only $15...call to make sure.

I have the high tone Vaq also and I thought about changing it because I like my Compadre lower tones better but then decided not to because it has a little superpower I don't want to get rid of.
Over most aluminum trash bigger than tabs, and many of those too, that high tone puts out the most tinny, annoying tone that makes me grit my teeth almost every time.
I don't have to thumb that knob, manipulate the coil or anything to figure these out...I know instantly when that sound travels through my ears to my jaw.
Like someone scratching their nails on a blackboard...to me.
Can't hear that exactly the same on my Compadre at all and I am not sure if affects anyone else this way but I sure can hear it and I am sure it is that high tone that triggers it.
I put up with the rest because this saves me lots of time and let's me dig more targets in my trashy parks.
I dug tons of aluminum in the old days and even though I figured out ways to tell about 80% of the trash I swing over now and avoid it this is much faster, actually instantaneous...hear a tone, grit my teeth and move on.

$15 for original owner, otherwise $50. ^_^

Well in case you didn't get your answer yet, here it goes.
I've sent a few units in, but not for problems just for my piece of mind on newly purchased used units.
The answer is it depends on what they say when you get your call.
For example. If the coil needs to be retuned or rebuilt, at least 7 days from the call if they start the process as soon as they hang up. Takes a lot of time to dig out and redo and let set the epoxy. Not their fault, it's the way of the beast.
But if this happens, which is the longest process that I've run into, just know that when you receive it back not only will it be a like new coil (functionally) but if it's a preset GB unit, they will set all the internals to that "new" coil.
When you receive something repaired back from Tesoro you can rest assured that it will come back with the same functionality as a brand new unit.

On a side not, even though my rare original cutlass (not cutlass II) Micromax seems perfect and only had one original owner before me, I want to send it in just to be safe.
It's literally a compadre at 12khz but with both a click down all metal (bypass disc circuit with still being a beep and not threshold based) which is more wide open then my modern compadre but also has a sensitivity knob.
I can't even find an ad or catalog that has it, but it exists because I have it lol. The cutlass II went to 10 khz like the modern silver Micromax.

But at any rate, just know that they dont sit on detectors and whatever needs to be done, as long as you agree, will be done in the most timely manner possible and what you receive back will be as close to brand new as you can get.

If I had a 7" compadre I'd send it with the 50 just to have a "new" one.

Let us know what you choose and how it works out!!!

Wires came loose from Discrimination knob. Also I'm not the orginal owner so I had to pay 50.00.

Thanks
