website. I just finised browsing the new Whites website......WOW. I still like Tesoro detectors better ,but really..........an update on their website is so so overdue. Tesoro you make great products.........so put your best foot forward..............where is their marketing department???? Any comments?

Perhaps they are waiting to update their web page when they announce the new models?

Using your logic... it should have been done when they introduced their first new detector in 8 years...........the Outlaw. But that wasn't the case. You do raise some optimism by actually expecting new models????? As in more than one!!!!!!

 Go to the Whites website and click on "About Us",....you will quickly see how much bigger that company is compared to Tesoro. Bigger manufacturer = more money for new models. I used to be a "Whites only" guy up until they started discontinuing all the good models. I didn't like their new offerings and started shopping around. I tried Tesoro and that was it. I own 3 Tesoros now and couldn't be happier and my hunting arm feels a lot better too !!!:detecting:

Whites website may look modern, but when you click on a model there just isn't much info on that my model. Not impressed in that sense. If I go to a manufacturers website I should be able to find all there is to know to about that detector so I can get interested in buying. Good looking site but this is where they failed. I can find more info on one of their models other places on the net. They should be the source of that info. Whoever built their sight seems to be short on common sense.

I have two Tesoro's and love them. A Silver Umax and a Tiger. For their uses they are very effective and hard to beat. In my opinion though, the end is coming for Tesoro. Lack of engineering, marketing (to include their website), and new models will sink their ship sooner or later. It's too bad because I think they have the potential to compete on a larger scale, they choose not to and that is a shame. I don't mind buying dated technology if it works good, and Tesoro's does. It is the simple things they could do, like start making better instruction manuals that don't look like flyers from the 60's. Simple things like that say a lot about the attitude and direction of the company. I mean how hard is to use Microsoft Word and make something decent looking with better instructions that FULLY detail the function of all operations. That would take a little time and not much money. The fact that they don't care to do that or take the time to do it is starting to worry me.

When it comes to the simplicity of beep and dig nobody can match Tesoro, period. First Texas has choosen the high technology road and cheapened their detectors (Fisher) build quality with all kind of fancy screen doo dads to attract the newer generation of metal detectorist. Tesoro's customer base seems to be an older genertion of detectorist and some newer guys with common sense that want simplicity and effectiveness without menus and screens. That makes their market a niche in my opinion and the older generation one by one are ending their detecting careers due to health issues. The market is shrinking. Tesoro needs something new and I mean more than one detector.

If they want to plug the holes in their ship and keep it from sinking- make a new model that nobody has. That would be a silver coin seeker. In most cases the remaining silver is deep or masked by trash. The detector needs the usual excellent target separation and recovery speed of their current models. It needs to reach deep like a Vaq but ignore metal real effectively. It doesn't need a display but it it had one that would be okay. Keep it simple and VERY effective for the intended purpose and have a price tag less than $450.

Yep, I am probably setting myself up for disappointment, hoping for new models for Christmas.:)

A christmas release would be perfect or very earlyin the new year.

Actually Dave Johnson (First Texas engineer) designed detectors for White's Tesoro, and Fisher. He doesn't just put doo-dads on the detectors to sell more. Like the ground mineralization readout and phase reading on the F5. Not to mention the depth readout. On coin sized objects, the depth readout is pretty accurate on the Fishers. These are very useful features and can really help in the field. If you have a chance, read the Fisher F5 manual just for fun. So much useful info. Then you may think Tesoro needs a makeover on their owner's manuals as well.

 Atomicscott is right about the Tesoro users. The most part are probably middle aged veterans of the hobby. Young inexperienced people are drawn to screens, displays, colors, lights, etc. These kids also have a tendency to get bored quickly and quit the hobby. I have sent letters in the past to all the detector manufacturers about my observations of the hobby. None of them replied back or responded, however, I did see Bounty Hunter produce a model that had to come from the idea I sent them because it is ditto and exactly as I presented. I was surprised to actually see it in production. I personally returned to "beep & dig" detectors after having a long and disappointing run with the top of the line LCD VDI machines. This is a great hobby. I think most of the detector manufacturers are doing their best. The future will tell the tale.

Tell me about it Atom, what a joke the manual is. If not for the internet, how in the world would we learn about these machines?
