TESORO OWNERS

Thinking about buying a used tesoro detector. Which models go the deepest? Do they compare to the garrett 250 or some of the older whites models in depth? I have a dfx now and might be looking for something to go as deep or deeper with no EMI. Thanks Tom

From the ones Ive used that would be a Tejon or Vaquero for depth. Ive never used a dfx so I cannot offer an opinion on that comparison.
Ive never found any detector to operate without being effected in one spot or another by EMI. Tesoros and Minelabs are some of the least effected that Ive used, but they too will react to it in the right spot.

either the vaquero or tejon will have no prob on depth going against the dfx i have actually read the vaq has alot of times in different reviews has surpassed the dfx many times but and there's that word it depends on the type of ground your hunting too, mkineralization factors and so on.

I went from the DFX to the Tejon. I like the DFX, but programming just took all the fun out of detecting. Every Time I used the DFX I was wondering if I was using the right program for the area I was in:confused:. With the Tejon I started having fun again seems to go as deep as the DFX, just no programs to play with.

Get a Tejon or Vaquero and you will be happy. Don't get rid of your DFX unless you are NEVER going to hunt salt water wet sand beaches. There, the DFX will surpass the T and V by far due to it's dual frequency and the ability to adjust the filters.

The Tejon will hunt the dry sand like a champ but get it near wet, salt water sand and it chatters like crazy due to it's high gain. I could never ground balance my Tejon on the wet sand here in NJ, no matter what coil and what discrimination level.

If you want the best depth with your DFX with little programming, just load up the relic program, bump the pre-amp gain to 3, maybe bump up the AC gain a tad as long as it's stable and you are off and running.

Some of the features on the Tejon like the dual discrimination and the ability to change the pitch of the tone are really neat.

rover Im over by Seaside Heights. I could never get my tejon to balance on the wet sand either but if you balance to the dry sand and use the disc control you can calm it down quite a bit and it will hunt pretty good in the wet sand. the bad news is I have to raise the disc up to just below a nickel so the smaller jewelry isnt gonna hit, but in a pinch if the dry isnt producing it can be a walk back to the car for another detector. I should also mention I use the widescans, that might help it out.

Can't speak for the Vaquero, but the Cibola is essentially the Vaq with preset GB. The Tejon is definitely deeper than the Cibola.
