Tesoro Outlaw - I'm Really Liking This Detector A Lot :tesoro::usaflag::thumbup:

I hit a old school early this morning to see if I could find some silver coins. I started out swinging the T2SE with the 11 inch DD coil. It got all tangled up in knots in the can slaw and iron, so I put it back in the car and pulled out the Vaquero with the 5.75 inch concentric coil. It did better, but I still wasn't doing that well with it, so I put it back in the car and got the Outlaw with the 8 inch doughnut coil. What a difference! The other two detectors didn't come close to matching the way the Outlaw went effortlessly through the trash and iron. It was locking on to targets and running smoothly in the trash. I had the sensitivity set to the maximum and the discrimination set at the 9 o'clock position. JimTn showed up around an hour after I got there this morning. He has been hunting this site for silver coins which explains why I didn't find one single clad quarter and only a couple of clad dimes. Most of what I was finding was zinc pennies, nickels and can slaw. I did find one junk ring and one wheat penny. Somebody has been cherry picking this site. That's OK, if they're leaving the nickels and zinc pennies, there's a good chance they left some medium size gold rings and some big class rings for me to find. The Outlaw was hitting super hard on nickels. If I had put the Outlaw's coil over a gold ring today, it would have been mine. :)

Hey, it was good running into you this morning and I see you did dig some stuff. I did get some clad, 2 quarters, 6 dimes, 5 nickels and some cents, but as you know, that old school has been pounded over the years. Non the less, it still gives up a goodie here and there. I am hearing some good things about the Outlaw. Glad you are enjoying it and good luck with it. HH jim tn

The 9:00 o'clock discrimination position on my Outlaw is just accepting sport drink foil caps after adjusting my discrimination dial pointer to be dead on the 5 cent mark when discriminating out a nickel. That adjustment also puts the discrimination dial dead on the zinc mark when discriminating out zinc pennies. Beaver tabs discriminate out between the 5 cent mark and pull tab. The larger square tabs discriminate out just a hair past the pull tab mark.

I lower the discrimination to its minimum setting when there's not a lot of foil and can slaw to deal with. Even at that lower setting most iron nails are discriminated out.

The 8 inch concentric coil is the cat's mellow. It's just the right size to get good depth and separation. Monte pointed out a while back that a concentric coil is not at a real disadvantage when it comes to masking and separation when comparing it to a DD coil. Monte has a valid point. I did some testing comparing the two. I put a quarter as close as I could to a zinc penny and still ID the quarter with my G2 using a 11 inch DD coil. I then took my Outlaw using the 8 inch concentric coil and set the discrimination to just discriminate out a zinc penny. When I waved the coil over the two coins the Outlaw did just as good or better job by giving me a good audio tone.

Nice! it looks like you cleaned the area

No there's plenty left. I went back today to clean out some more stuff. I'm having a ball with the Outlaw.:bouncy:

I just know there's some gold rings hiding out there in all that trash. Maybe a hundred of them. I'm not greedy, I just want one of them.:)
