:tesoro:I HAVE A VAQUERO COMING IN THE MAIL,NEED INFORMATION AS TO HOW DEEP IT IS AND WHAT IT LIKES ?HOW DOES THE SUPER TUNING WORK?DOES IT GO DEEPER OR IS IT MORE SENSITIVE WITH THE SUPER TUNING?IS THE STOCK COIL AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN THE 5.75 COIL?THANK YOU.:clapping:

The V is a great machine. It is plenty deep and for a light, versatile machine with a fast recovery speed it is hard to beat in my opinion. I would not want to part with mine even though I have other detectors as well. The standard coil is a great all rounder that gives a good mix of depth and ground coverage. That said, I have a 5.75 concentric coil which I bought after reading some of the opinions on here. The 5.75 concentric is great for finding things in trashy areas and is even easier to pinpoint with than the stock coil. Super tuning will give the V a bit more depth but I don't bother with it personally as it keeps me busy enough on stock settings.

Glad you found the site.

As I said the Vaquero is a very nice unit. I really like using mine. Two factors I forgot to mention. The weifgt, or lack of. It is so light swinging it for a long hunt is not a problem. Another is how long the battery last. One 9 volt seems to last a very long time.

I hope you enjoy the Vaquero, Beale.

The Vaquero is a very good all around detector!
Gets better then avg. depth.
In trashy areas a 5.75 may be better than stock coil.

Target size Depth
Dime to nickel: 4 to 8 inches
Quarter to half dollar: 6 to 12 inches
Dollar to fruit jar lid: 8 to 16 inches

Knowing your detector and using it properly are the two most important things that you can do to get the best depth and sensitivity out of any machine.

Super Tuning is a technique to get better depth and sensitivity out of any machine that has an adjustable Threshold control.

The Threshold control is normally used to set the level of hum in the All Metal mode. A light steady hum is usually desired so that any small or deep target will cause a change in the audio sound. To Super Tune a detector, put it in the Discriminate mode and turn the Threshold knob all the way to the clockwise position. At this point, the All Metal mode will no longer operate correctly, but you will see an increase in depth and sensitivity while hunting in the Discriminate mode.

If it is turn down the sensitivity until it stops chattering, It just like when it is foggy. Do you drive with High beams on when it is foggy.

You'll like the V. The only trouble I had was because I misread the instructions on how to ground balance. I was trying to maintain the threshold tone in both raising and lowering the coil. But, you will see that you need no change in the tone as the coiled is dropped. The instructions are pretty clear and easy if you take your time reading them, (like I didn't). Another thing I like is to run at the lowest disc'. possible and then just simply thumb up the disc' knob with your thumb when you hit a target. And...it is so light.
