tesoro lobo supertraq question

Hey,
I bought a used Lobo ST in fine condition and it came in mail today.
question: Is the bolt and tightening thumbnut that attaches the coil to the rod supposed to be made of plastic? The one enclosed is a metal screw and I thought this would interfere with normal operation.
How can I get nylon screws if I need them?
Thanks
Tom

I checked several detectors in the past that had metal bolts, Garretts and Tesoros, and again after I replaced the metal bolt with nylon, or plastic, ones and couldn't tell any difference in performance or depth. I drilled the holes out to accept the nylon bolts Fisher uses on their detectors anyway. Paranoia? Probably, but I felt better with the nylon bolts installed <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">.

Tom, The coil doesn't see the metal. No need to change if you don't want to. Works Great as is.

The LST is a "motion only" machine and the metal bolt will not be seen unless it is moving in respect to the coil, which it does not do while attached to the coil and rod.
Nylon bolts and nuts are available at any good hardware store and even the not so good ones such as Home Depot and Lowes.

This was discussed somewhere in the past.
I believe it was one of the Giffords that posted that they picked a particular alloy of Stainless Steel for those bolts so the would not interfer.
I have had the issue stainless bolt in my Eldorado since I got it with no adverse effect.

Each has (came with the metal bolt holding the coil) Have never encountered a problem related to this. The earlier post referring to movement in relation to the coil probably explains why this causes no problems.
