Tesoro Lobo ST =

Got a nice used Tesoro Lobo ST yesterday and took a few minutes today to try it out. It was fun to use, gives a nice strong zip sound on coins, had no problems finding lower or higher conductors (nickels and dimes). It hits on the smallest of items, I would call it the Grandfather of the Compadre. I think when funds allow I am going to get a brown round or a 8"x9" concentric coil for it. Only used it for about a half hour, will report back when I get some more time with it.

I'm interested in one of these but am hundreds of miles away from any gold nuggets, I don't know why I want one. I guess because it does sound like the grandfather of the Compadre. But at over 4 times the Compadre price ouch.

My brother Ron has very recently acquired a Lobo, but I don't think he's had a chance to give it a good test drive. I did see it the other day and for a used one it was in really super nice condition.

Most people feel the Lobo has the best discrimination circuitry built by Tesoro. I would like to have one if I can mount the control under the elbow.

Is that a 4 pin coil?

The first version of the Lobo used a different coil than the later Lobo ST does, but Super Trac (ST) uses the same 4 pin coils as the Tejon, Vaquero, and the Cibola or to say the "Delta Group"

No gold nuggets in my area either (northern New York), I am a coiin & jewelry hunter and knew it would be a great jewelry hunter & was curious how it would do on coins so after having a chance to acquire one on a trade deal I just had to find out. Even with the little time I have used it I can tell it is going to be a very good multi purpose deetector.

I am curious hearing what he thinks of it after he gets a chance to test it out, the used new to me one I got is in excellent condition as well.

You can mount it under the elbow.

You can hipmount it too. I miss the one I had. I used to take take it in the water and put the box in a small backpack.

Keith Southern adjusted the gb inside and was hitting his 10" dime. Look for his video.

It will hit on small targets...it should come packaged with a pin-pointer! Good thing is you have the capability to find earring studs/backs and gold/silver chains for as long as your patience can hold out:)

I watched that video, very impressive.

Yes I should have known that. I'm sure you will be tinkering with it :). Let us know how it does. That's exactly why I wanted another one.
