Tesoro Lobo ST Depth, hotground ,durability, temperature

1. What are the smallest gold nuggets found with the Lobo ST? White's MXT gets one half grain with a 6x10 DD coil! Can the Lobo match that? Does it need a smaller coil?
2.In hot ground with the gain reduced, how much depth does the Lobo get with the stock DD coil?
3.How low must you reduce the gain in hot ground, with the stock coil? With any coil?
4.How durable is it? Can it handle temperatures from 25 degrees F to 105 degrees F?
5.Can the Lobo ST match or beat the new Fisher GoldbugPro & SE for small gold, depth & stability in hot ground? Does it need a smaller coil for hot ground, like the goldbug?

Interesting questions. I would love to hear answers. Having said that, it sounds like you are going to be prospecting? Are you going to dedicate your machine to prospecting? If so, maybe you should consider PI. PI units are not as expensive. Digging those hot rocks will become a chore. If you dont mind a little digging, either machine you mentioned will do a fantastic job. Keep in mind that the white's unit is no longer in production.

In lost treasure magazine, the lobo found 6.17 grains with the stock 5x10DD coil at Lynx Creek, AZ. The gain was reduced to 7 and the lobo was in the alkali (salt) mode to deal with the mineralized ground. However, the batteries rattled and the author felt the entire battery compartment and door needed to be redesigned! Also, he felt it needed a drop in battery pack and he decried the lack of a skid plate on the tock 5x10 DD coil. Other than that, he seemed to like the lobo supertrak.

Herschbach on AKmining.com says the lobo ST won't handle heavily mineralized ground , but he only uses the all metal mode. Why not use discrimination and the alkali/salt mode? It might reduce sensitivity and depth a bit, but it would still work.
Since the lobo ST ran at reduced gain of 7 in the alkali mode in medium mineralized ground ( and found gold) at Lynx Creek, AZ. the White's MXT seems to be better. It ran at full gain +1 in lock ( instead of gain=7) in similar ground and the salt mode wasn't required. The question is whether the MXT is worth the extra money, with an LCD showing target and ground numbers and iron ID. You'd have to purchase a 6x10 DD coil for an extra $180.00.
Have to wait until Lost Treasure Magazine reviews the Fisher Goldbug Pro, which would be similar in price to the Tesoro Lobo SuperTrak.
