Tesoro Lifetime Warranty for a new Machine??

AV64

New member
I was thinking of buying a Tesoro Compadre for my nephew. But he is hard on things and if it takes a dump will they want to fix it with there lifetime warranty...

As long as you were the original owner and keep your receipt they will fix it at no charge – as long as Tesoro is around

The Compadre is fantastic little unit and he will enjoy it. So far as being hard on it maybe you have a teachable moment here. Great way to learn responsibility running a metal detector. He'll learn respect not only for the machine but the properties he hunts and how much of a footprint he leaves.

from what i was told by them. send in the warranty card that comes with it. i got mine through kellyco, paid with credit card over the phone. i do not have a actual receipt, just a packing slip that came with machine. i called about that. the gal there looked up the card i sent in and told me thats all was needed. if the numbers match, no problems.

Hi AV64, JMC is Right On! This is a great opportunity for you to give your nephew a huge lesson in life. And from what you said of him being hard on things, it is a lesson well needed. As for Tesoro Warranty, It has always stated there would be no "free lunch" fix for obvious signs of neglect or abuse, though for many years their free service to so many of us would almost cause us to remember that being the case. Yeah, sit the kid down a few times before you get him the detector and explain the "No Free Lunch" doctrine to him . If he is enthused enough about detecting maybe he will apply some of his lacking responsibility to taking care of his new Compadre. If not and he flunks it, let him pay for the fix . That way you have done the very best you could for your nephew. HH, Charlie

Thank's guy's for all, I am going to have a sit down with him and let him know how it is...

As per the Tesoro web sight, http://www.tesoro.com/service/warranty.html

Our lifetime warranty covers defects in material and workmanship for as long as it is owned by the original purchaser. The warranty excludes batteries, damage caused by leaky batteries, cable breakage due to flexing, wear of the searchcoil housing, and leakage caused by the condition of water seals on underwater detectors. Also excluded are instruments which have been abused, altered, or repaired by an unauthorized party.

Abuse is NOT covered by warranty.

Best warranty in the biz. A couple years back they completely rebuilt my ancient 85 Golden Sabre from one end to the other. New parts all over. Now that's a 30 year old BEACH machine mostly back in the day. They just rebuilt my RIP Bobs original Silver Sabre also, great job/service always-John
