They have the "beep and dig units" well represented. but what they really need is a new Target ID machine!!!! I will be buying one this summer in June......and I hope Tesoro will have a new one out by then. Garrett has their At Pro, Fisher and Teknetics all have multiple new units out. Whites has a very effective M6 and then there's Tesoro!!! The Cortes and Deleon are long overdue for an upgrade. I like Tesoro and that's where I want to put my money..............but offer me something new, effective and updated!!!!! Come on Tesoro, give those other guys a challenge. Anybody agree with me???
mr gifford sr. was a strong believer in audio nuances in a detector
as an engineer,he knew that target id was/is not as accurate
as audio, especially at depth!..yes they have produced them in the past
to answer the competition, but i believe their heart is really not in it,because of the
company's design philosophy!.."beep and dig!"..just sayin'
nothing! i hear it is accurate enough for everyday hunting!
i do not own one,but i have read it doesn't go very deep,
but again,i have read this in the past, and have NOT PERSONALLY
used one!
I agree. BUT, tesoro is known for it's beep and dig detectors, they are the best of the best. What I would like is as written above - some 'audio nuances' in the HOT machines. I have finally come to understand what the Vaq is telling me for the most part, but the signatures in the audio play a small part as compared to the silver umax I had, I could read the audio feedback like a book on that machine.
I read on another thread something about a Tejon 2. I think it's a great idea. Take the Tejon integrate the Vaquero's smooth/stable threshold, along with a user adjustable low tone like the old pantera/golden sabre had. Maybe even a toggle for a 5khz, 12khz and 17khz. I could go on and on about a new dream machine.
I started with beep and dig, then was attracted to tones then meter ID. Now I have went full circle, beep in dig just seems to get the job done for me.
I also think Tesoro has already figured that out.
I have 3 machines one high end ID meter, tones the works, and 2 beep and dig machines. If the IRS said I had to give up 2 of my machines for taxes, I would keep the Tejon.
Just give me 3 tones on my Vaquero and I would be a happy camper. I don't need or want a digital detector. For the beep and dig crowd Tesoro pretty well has the bases covered already.....just a few little tweaks here and there and they would be perfect......just my 2 zinc's worth.

dont be too hard on the company as they do make quality machines, look inside at the circuit boards and no rubbish PCBs .
however they could do with a few updated products as the state of the art moves forward they need to take note of the competition .
no doubt they are working on it.
wireless headphones to suit their machines would be advantageous for a start
