Tesoro headphone jack question

Hey gang: I have a silver sabre in my arsenal. And whenever I reach for it (for nail-riddled ghost-townsy type environments), I'm having the following problem:

I'm using my standard headphones that I use with explorer II. But when I go to plug them in to the silver sabre, I notice that they don't work, unless the jack is pulled back out a notch or two. It can't be pushed all the way in. Only THEN do I get the sound in the ears. HOWEVER, if I pull the jack out too far, then of course the external speaker comes to life. Doh! ;)

How do I make it so that I can push the headphone jack all the way in? Or what am I doing wrong ?

Is the headphones stereo or mono phones?
Is the Explorer headphone jack stereo or mono?

I know that with my Sun-Ray pro gold headphone they have a toggle on them for at lest two different setups on different detectors, in one model I have to get any sound out of them I flip the toggle one way, but if I plug those headphones back into one of my other detectors I get NO sound until I flip that toggle the other direction. I'm thinking at this point whatever type of headphones you have there just not setup right for the Silver Sabre. Do you have any other headphones or earbuds you could try on the sabre just to make sure there isn't something wrong with the headphone port on it.

thanx Mark. I have killer-b's. However, one of the two toggles on there is broken. Perhaps that's the mono/stero you speak of ? If so, is there a way to hard-wire the insides of my tesoro to accomodate?

Yes I have another pair of headphones (a no-name brand) which does just fine, and doesn't have this problem. However, those aren't good enough tone-quality to be using with my explorer II. Which is why I wish there was a way to make my killer-B's be compatible with my silver Sabre. so that I don't have to lug around two sets of headphones, like if I'm hiking in someplace and carrying my gear.

I have a friend with a pair of killer-bees that I'm meeting up with later today. I'll ask to borrow his, to see if that non-functioning switch is the ticket or not. If so, then I either need to replace that toggle, or get another pair of killer-B's. Thanx !

I'm quess'in that that broken toggle is the "Detector Type" switch, the killer-B's are a good headphone I would say they would be worth sending in for repair.
