Tesoro Ground Balancing Video

I stumbled on Vince Gifford's old Ground Balancing Video
Been missing for a few years
On my computer sound gets out of sync with the video but still good info
The key part for me was how to deal with the overshoot sound

It's good to know that it's better to be a little too positive than a little too negative when ground balancing if you're having trouble getting a perfect ground balance.

Next month makes this a 9 year old video and, while it helps, it is sure annoying with the visual and audio being out of sync. Also, a few things could have been better explained because I know many newcomers to the hobby can't figure out many terms that are used. For example:

Over-Shoot... This is not caused by having the GB set a bit too positive or too negative unless you are using Autotune, which the Eldorado

I called Tesoro today asking about a video they said no. So thanks Tico for digging this one up and posting. Its was trial and error for me about 5 yrs ago. But confident now on the GB. Also Thanks Monte for the info. Gonna cut and past for other users. Always looking for more info!

Monte, how do you "power balance" in silent search discriminate without a threshold hum to guide you?

just what is "Power Balancing" and "How do you do it in the Discriminate mode?"

Then there's always the follow-up question about "How do you GB in a silent-search Discriminate mode?"

Well, there are several things everyone needs to know in order to adjust their detector for the best Ground Balance in the primary search mode. Some of these include:

1.. Is the manual (or internal trimmer) Ground Balance adjustment, usually associated with the All Metal mode, tied in with the motion-based Discriminate mode? Not all makes and models offer this capability:

The Lobo SuperTRAQ has a quick automated GB in the All Metal mode, but the Discriminate mode is internally preset.

Monte, thanks for the explanation and examples. I have an Eldorado

Thanks for the explanation i live in vancouver washington and yes the ground is not that great.
Going to give this a try.

generally is a bit of a challenge. If I had your e-mail I could send you the invite e-mails notices to the monthly metal detecting meetings/programs and detecting outing we hold the 2nd Saturday of each month. We have attendees from Vancouver, Battle Ground, Washougal, and other parts of Washington, and from Forest Grove to Aurora to beyond Oregon City and south to Sheridan who regularly attend.

These Detector Owner Rendezvous meetings are hosted by AHRPS and are FREE to the public! A great was to learn more about your detector, other detectors, get some "How-To' help as well as meet great people and find stuff when we have our outings (weather permitting on the outings, of course). The meetings are held regardless of the weather, and we start at 8:30 AM on Saturday.

I am going to be e-mailing a reminder out today and, if you're interested, drop me an e-mail with your e-mail address.

Ground Balanced, and especially if you are hunting in a more highly mineralized setting.

Just remember that there isn't a perfect detector out there, just some that work certain applications better than others. I had three Tej

Actually a pretty good video, well other then the sound being off but it explains GB pretty well. I hunt with a El Dorado mainly and I run just a tad on positive side and have found some pretty deep coins in some pretty nasty soil.

OOoh and if you want to believe running a little positive will make you miss silver forgive me when I laugh at you. Get real!!!

I say if you claim something like this you should make a video to back your outrageous claim(s) I honestly want to see this because I don't buy into that the least bit, becuase if you did miss silver because of this alleged setting then how the heck did you know it was there in the first place? Let me guess someone came in behind you and found it, well there is numerous reasons that could happen and to say it is because of "x" is a farce. By all means make a legit video proving this and I will gladly eat some crow. OOh and don't do any lame air tests because I don't live in a world where money floats in the air, my targets are in the ground.

I hunt with a Vaquro in highly mineralized and iron laden soil in Birmingham Alabama.
Probably some of the worst soil in the country.
I can tell you power balancing works.
Very choppy signals become clear, and signals I could not even hear before power balancing magically show up after.

Thanks Monte!
