Tesoro Ground Balance Question

Hi folks I just got a Tesoro Bandido uMax. I have read the manual several times & think that I understand the ground balance adjustment but it is easier for me to understand from hearing from you folks than reading it from a manual if that makes any sense. The Bandido like most Tesoro's is a 3 3/4 turn g.b. For the sake of my question lets say that my Bandido has a 4 turn g.b. Am I correct in saying this: I turn my g.b. dial counterclockwise 5 or 6 times which will put it at the one extreme then turn it 2 times clockwise which would put it right in the middle of the 4 turn adjustment. So after getting the g.b. dial set in the middle, is it correct that if I turn the g.b. dial counterclockwise the g.b. will go negative and if I turn the g.b. dial clockwise the g.b. will go positive. Wish I could make more sense but kind of hard to write what I am trying to ask. Thanks! Steve.

Sounds like you have it correct. Just can't be sure that your ground will be real close to the middle of the adjustment range. Just need to try adjusting over your ground.

Here's how I do it with my Eldorado. Over a CLEAN (no metal targets) spot I dip the coil straight down from eighteen inches or so towards the soil to about an inch above. If the threshold sound nulls out, I turn the knob (think volume like on radio) up. If the sound gets louder I turn the knob back (down like on radio) - when the sound is neutral or just rises a small amount, you're ready to hunt. Gets to be quick and simple with practice.

[size=large] Way to go! Since you're so partial to Tesoro detector you ought to have one with manual Ground Balance for more versatility. Is it the Bandido

Thanks everyone, I thought that I had it figured out but needed to hear it from you pro's. Good to hear from you Monte hope all is well with you. I got a Bandido

Hay SkyWiz,

I wish I had a Bandido uMax.

Just remember, sometimes you may experience places
where tha threshold will waver some. It may be a little
harder to balance in some places.

If tha threshold is not consistant, turn it up some to do
tha ground balancin. It will be more stable that way.

But it's not hard. After a wile, it's automatic except when
tha ground changes. That comes a mater of habit also.

I didn't know I needed ground balance until I got one.
Many places, it is not an advantage. Other places, it
makes a big difference. Those are places that used to
frustrate me. There are still places that frustrate me,
but just not as many.

Hi Tabdog, the Bandido uMax (micro max) doesn't have an adjustable threshold. It is factory set just fine though. Steve.
